Asphalt is not the same thing as blacktop. Blacktop is a type of asphalt, but contains less bitumen, making it less durable than asphalt. Asphalt is a better option for major highways, streets, and driveways, while blacktop is more suitable to playgrounds.

If you notice minor cosmetic problems with your driveway, you should seal it. Look out for cracks and holes on the surface, faded asphalt or concrete, and stains from oil and other chemicals. A traditional driveway gate isn’t your only option when installing a barricade in front of your driveway. To make sure they last as long as possible, gravel driveways should be properly graded and leveled during installation and repair. The natural material is extremely durable, but the grooves make it challenging to remove snow and easy for weeds to grow through the cracks. Still, this is nothing an afternoon DIY project can’t fix and lends to the fact that their easy maintenance helps gravel driveways last even longer.
