"Taylor Luebbering had the job done in one day. He leveled the ground next to our home and down to the edge of our driveway. Mr. Luebbering then had 2 loads of white rock delivered which he then smoothed out as this is fir our travel trailer. Mr. Luebbering also put rock if front of our home and rerocked our driveway. I would DEFINITELY recommend Luebbering Construction to anyone who wants yard work done as he is most reasonable with his price and very prompt in getting the job done to the customers satisfaction!!! I would give Luebbering Construction 10 Stars!!!"

"The weather kept this job at bay, but once we had a dry spell the crew was here at the time stated and they worked non-stop. The crew was courteous and even went out of their way to help me move sod from the work area. Brent kept in contact with me both before and during the project and addressed any and all of my concerns. I would highly recommend (and have already done so) this company to anyone needing a pavement job at their home or business. Thank you Thomure Paving!!"

"We had them re-seal and stripe (paint) an asphalt church parking lot with some large cracks in the surface that needed special attention and filling. We also had a large meeting scheduled the following night for which we needed the lot to be dry and usable. Bates's assured me it would be done right, and dry in time. They did quality work, kept their word, and kept me out of trouble with the church board! One member felt I over-paid, but the extra crack filling and on-time completion were vital and worth it. Several neighbors also had personal paving and sealing work done, and were happy with their results as well. Highly recommend. Larry Warren, Admin-Council President"

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

An asphalt driveway should be at least 3 inches thick over a compacted gravel base. Areas with poor drainage should have a thicker stone base. To install a new asphalt driveway over an existing driveway, the new asphalt should be at least 2 inches thick and the existing driveway should be in relatively good condition.

Pavers will crack in a fire pit if they are made of the wrong materials. Be sure to use kiln-fired brick paver stones when building your backyard fire pit. You can also purchase a fire pit project kit, which will sometimes come with fire-safe pavers, to help you avoid the guessing game of buying pavers separately.

The answer to whether or not you need to get a permit before you start your driveway can vary widely based on local ordinances and the scope of your driveway ideas. In most urban and suburban areas, a permit is needed before building a new driveway to ensure that a homeowner is using safe materials and proper drainage practices while designing and constructing a new driveway. In some rural areas, a homeowner may not be required to apply for a permit. When building a new driveway on your own, always check with your local building department to see if you need to request a permit. When hiring a driveway contractor, verify that the right permits are being used before driveway construction begins.

Professional installers often include a deep layer of crushed gravel under permeable pavers to allow more runoff to soak through into the soil below. Many installations will include multiple layers of gravel, with coarser aggregate at the base and finer aggregate that sits on top of that bottom layer. Above the gravel, you’ll often find coarse sand that helps reduce paver shifting over time. Some permeable paver designs include a water collection system set into the gravel layer to route runoff to a safe area for disposal.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.
