We're a Father/Son team and have been in business since 1977 and on all the major Insurance Company's preferred contractor list. We'll share with you all the technical specs and practical fixes for any problems you have and do the work ourselves. We have masonry craftsmen to call in on bigger jobs. Free estimates are available on jobs where there is a fair chance of winning your job. We're not the the highest or the lowest priced contractors, we try to stay middle of the road pricing. We won't come in and "scare" you with dire warnings about your house, but we will give you an inspection based on local codes and years of experience. We've seen it all before and can solve all chimney related problems. We've also done historic work on homes in greater Kansas City and St Joseph, and did the first round of work on the Freight House in Kansas City,as well as lots of work in downtown Lee's Summit. We also do basement repair and waterproofing such as wall bracing and backfill dirt. Waterproof paint on basements and raising window wells and epoxy basement wall cracks

"Everything we needed and more for this repair!!!! Fair prices and speedy work! So thankful we found them!"

Locally owned and operated specializing in pest and wildlife control. Buggs prides itself on providing our customers with the highest level of quality and professionalism. We are a small company that takes great pride in our customer service. We do not lock you into long term contracts like the big companies try to do. You are free cancel at anytime. If you are on our monthly or quarterly program you will see the same person at your home or business each time. With the bigger companies you will just get who ever is assigned to your house that day.

"This was such an unfortunate experience. I had a raccoon living in my chimney, and all I needed was for them to come put a one-way door on the top so it could get out but not get back in. It seemed like a simple enough task, but the guy who came out was very open about being unsure of what to do. He ended up taking out the fireplace insert in my basement, looking in there, and confirming that there was a raccoon. After he confirmed it was in there, he for some reason decided to walk away and work on the roof with both the fireplace on my first floor and in my basement wide open. Assuming that he was a professional and knew what he was doing, I didn’t question him (I thought he probably plugged it higher up). Of course, this meant that the raccoon just came into the house. I was sitting at my dining room table when I heard tip-tap sounds on the kitchen floor. When I turned around, I saw the raccoon two feet behind me. I ran out the front door and got the guy. When the guy came in, he said he couldn’t find the raccoon and that it “probably” went back up the chimney. At this point, my kitchen was a huge mess; the raccoon had stepped in its poop and left black poop footprints all over the kitchen and counters. It even urinated in my cookie tray on my stove top. It took hours to clean and disinfect the kitchen, and I had to throw away my dinner, which I was marinating on the counter. The raccoon also walked across brand new carpeting that I had just gotten installed in my basement; the whole purpose of getting new carpeting was to have a safe/clean place for my baby to crawl, and now I have to worry about contamination from roundworm. Anyway, this story gets crazier and crazier, and I’ll spare you all the details, but the shorter version is that we discovered in the middle of the night when it sounded like someone was breaking in that the raccoon was still loose in our house. I called the guy back out, and still he “couldn’t find it” and insisted that “if” it was in the house, that there would be more of a mess (more than just the raccoon poop that mysteriously ended up on our floor). Eventually, after several returns to my house, they were able to find the raccoon hiding in the rafters in a room I used as a gym in my basement (which I now can’t use as a gym because I worry about aerosolized roundworm from poop in the rafters far enough back that we can’t clean it out). After *48* full hours of the raccoon being loose in my house, endangering the life of my small dog and 7-month-old baby, it was finally removed. All they had to say about it was that “sometimes things go south,” which is remarkable given that they literally opened the door to let the raccoon in and then left the fireplace door unattended while it was open for over an hour. It was an extremely dangerous and awful experience due entirely to their negligence. And charging $700 after all that seems simply absurd given that they endangered my family, ruined my new carpeting, and rendered my gym unusable for the foreseeable future."

At Best Chimney Services we strive to make each customer feel just like family. We cover many aspects of chimney repairs and would love to add you to our list of thousands of satisfied customers. We use the industry standard vacuum technology for dust control, as well as high tech chimney scan cameras to view your chimneys flue systems for any unforeseen issues. These issues include cracked tiles, missing mortar, and/or incorrect building techniques to name a few that you wouldn't know exist until a problem arises. Many issues can cause creosote to buildup in wood fireplaces. Or gas to not vent properly in gas fireplaces and furnace setups. These are both health and fire hazards. Call today!

"Ryan and his team provided excellent service, completed a thorough inspection of our chimneys and fireplaces and provided a complete report in a very timely manner. He recommended quality fireplace products and a fair quote for chimney repairs. No hidden costs. Our choices were 2 fireplace inserts, upstairs we preferred a wood burning unit and downstairs a gas burning unit. He and his team delivered and installed in a timely manner, taking upmost care with cleanup afterwards. He continued to follow up in the weeks after to ensure we were satisfied. Really a great experience and highly recommend him for any chimney and fireplace work. Judy Sipple"

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

Many states require roofers to be licensed, and some states don’t mandate licensing. You can use Angi’s state licensing tool to check if a roofing company holds the proper licensing for your area. A licensed roofing contractor will provide reliable roof installation service, leading to a reduced risk of leaks in the future, which can be expensive to repair. Paying more for a licensed roofer upfront often means paying less over time.

Yes, you have to get on the roof to cut a hole for solar tubing. It's not possible to complete the job from inside your house by simply cutting through the ceiling. So if you want to go the DIY route, remember to use safe ladder practices. If you’re not comfortable climbing on your roof to install solar tubes, hire a pro who has the tools and expertise to do the job safely.

Sticky shoes help, but you shouldn't be walking on the steel roof— let the pros do that. it's dangerous enough to walk on asphalt shingled roofs which have quite a bit of texture. Stone coating adds a lot of grip, but it still doesn't lock your foot down, so if you absolutely have to be on the roof, make sure you’re secured in another way, like with the harness and rope.

The least suitable roof for solar panels is a wood shake roof. An electrical mishap with your solar panels could start a fire on the roof, so some areas don’t allow solar panels on wood roofs. You don’t have to let a wood roof stop you from going solar. You can replace your wood shakes with shingles. Installing the panels on the ground is another option.

Building code allows 24-inch on-center spacing for roof trusses. However, you can install them on 12- or 16-inch centers to handle large loads or other exceptional circumstances. In cases such as covering a wide span or supporting alternative roofing materials, where a structural engineer needs to evaluate or create a design for your trusses, the plans will indicate the spacing.
