"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"She did a good job. I was afraid the whole time she's here by the way she looked. She did a wonderful job though and she stayed extra. There was no additional cost. In fact, she was supposed to inform me a week or two later her schedule but she never did. I wouldn't have her back."

"They were terrible. First of all, they were too expensive but I should have probably gotten more bids but I took them in and I just think they didn't deliver on what they did. They put some white trim up in my dining room. They didn't paint it very well. You see all the nail holes and they didn't seal it very well. It still looks like it's not finished. On the window, they took two pieces of wood and they didn't put them from corner to corner. They put them together on a long line. They came in and tried to fix it but they ran out of wood. They left it looking like that. It looked terrible. That was really unprofessional considering how expensive they were. They built on a room for a closet and the walls started falling away from ceiling. I would not recommend them. The closet was usable but I had to have it repaired by someone else. The frame was fine but it started peeling away from the ceiling. Overall, it was below average. They showed up on time. They were professional; they just didn't do a good job."

Closets questions, answered by experts

Bedrooms and living rooms generally cost the least to remodel. Of course, the project price will depend on what you're planning to do to the space and the cost of the materials you choose to incorporate. Prices are typically lower than those of other remodels because major plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work isn't often part of remodeling these rooms.

If you have a bathroom closet with movable shelves, you can place them at virtually any spacing that works for you. Useful measurements between shelves in the working, or middle, section can be 10 to 16 inches for towels or linens. Lower or higher shelving could be up to 24 inches between shelves to store lesser-used or bulky items or boxes.

Custom furniture can provide more efficient storage and maximize resources.

Costs range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on size, materials, and design complexity.

Yes, adding a built-in or custom closet generally increases your home's value and makes it more attractive to potential buyers. A well-designed closet adds utility, organization, and a touch of luxury, which are appealing selling points. Most homeowners see a return on investment (ROI) of 50% to 60%; for example, a custom closet can add about $1,000 to your home's value on average. The specific ROI depends on the type, with custom walk-in closets typically providing more value than reach-in closets. However, to maximize value, ensure the closet doesn't significantly detract from the room's usable square footage. Converting an entire room into a closet can actually lower your home's value. Similarly, using overly lavish materials may not recoup their cost. A good strategy is to add a closet that takes square footage from a non-living area, such as a garage, to create a mudroom closet.
