"Randy Gardner responded immediately to my request for a visit and estimate. He looked inside and outside, and told me I did not need to go to the expense of the drain tile and waterproofing. He said the house (build in 1917) had settled, and that the sidewalk along the side of the house was sinking toward the house, resulting in the water in the basement. He recommended removing the existing sidewalk, and laying new concrete with the proper slope away from the house. Although it was not a cheap fix, it was half of what I feared it would cost. "I had a French drain installed in my existing basement to deal with water seepage issues. The job took 2 1/2 days and was challenging due to having to work around footers that supported the stairs. The crew moved through each obstacle with speed and efficiency. I was also impressed by how clean they were. They even put up plastic walls to keep dust out of the rest of the basement. When they left, the floor was probably cleaner than when they arrived! With all the recent rain I can now hear the water trickling from the new drain pipe into my sump pit. "Aurora replaced my concrete driveway (with concrete) in October, 2016. The new driveway has endured two winters so far and it looks just about like the day it was poured. Remember...there are two kinds of concrete, concrete that is cracked and concrete that will crack. That said there is one very small hairline crack and about 12 places where aggregate has popped out. After investigating I concluded that both conditions are common and to be expected. The crew was friendly and didn't mind my questions while they were working. They were VERY efficient and definitely knew what they were doing. Most impressive to me was the way they were able to slope the new driveway away from the house to keep water runoff from draining toward the foundation. The new driveway is 1,325 square feet. All in all Aurora did an excellent job and I highly recommend them. The cost was less than I expected."

Being that it was going to be about 17 degrees that night the technician left us with two space heaters to hold us over until we could get the furnace replaced.
