"Dan was hands down the best contractor I have ever worked with. He cared about the project outcomes as much as we did and was always ready to answer questions. He's a straight shooter who knows his trade and we will definitely give him a call when we are ready for our next project."

"Jon was prompt and great to work with.  He offered some great advice on how to eventually lay the carpet and paint (which we were going to do on our own).  I would definitely recommend Jon!

"Twin City Handyman did great work on my exterior window project. Very professional and fast. Got a pretty big project done in one day and left it nice and clean. Their estimate was concise and thorough and no surprises when it came to the final bill."

"The money charged was meeting my budget would liked it lower. But the other bids I received was that or higher. They did the job on time and keep site clean. So I have no complaints I working on many projects to get locked down so I can get assistance from these guys. Interactions were friendly and down to earth. Most contractors are rude and very hard to work with so I have to say I give these guys props."

"I recently hired Jason for a home project, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. He was professional, responsive, and incredibly easy to work with. He took the time to understand exactly what I wanted, offered helpful suggestions, and delivered everything on schedule. The quality of his work is outstanding, every detail was handled with care. He communicated clearly throughout the process, and made sure I was happy with his work every step of the way. If you’re looking for a reliable, skilled contractor who truly takes pride in his work, I highly recommend Jason. I will definitely be reaching out to him again for future projects."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

It’s best to use two screws to secure deck boards into every joist. Securing the boards to every joist makes the deck more structurally sound, while using two screws on the outer sides of the boards can help prevent warping and cupping.

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.

Removing a load-bearing wall is best handled by professionals. However, if you have the skill set and decide to DIY the project, you will still need at least one additional person to assist you. Aside from helping with demolition, you'll need another hand to install the new support beam.

Building involves setting foundation posts, framing with durable wood, adding roofing support, and protecting from elements with water-resistant finishes.

It's possible to turn your carport into a living space, but there are additional factors to address over turning it into a garage. HVAC, plumbing, and electricity won't be optional, and you'll need finished flooring, drywall, trim work, and legal ceiling height, for starters. Also, keep in mind that living space conversions may require upgrading the foundation underneath, and the permits might be more expensive as well.
