"We told him before scheduling the work that our ceilings were high and he would need a 12' ladder.  When he got to our house, without ladder, he wanted us to go rent one while he waited, which we decided not to do.  The promotion that we bought was 2 hours of electrical service, to which we got about an hour's worth of re-connecting a ground in one light fixture.  He told us to call him when we had a ladder rented and he would come back to install the other light fixture, but we decided to just do it on our own.

"Rob has built an awesome business of providing custom lighting for the winter holiday season. Rob knows what he is doing and is very good at providing a display that meets your needs and expectations. He knows what is needed for electrical outlets and if you need more outdoor outlets, he will specify what is needed for your electrician. From that point he provides the lights based on your preference for color and size. He installs the lights, maintains them and will fix any problems if a string goes out. He then will remove the lights after the season. His prices are fair and I have found them reasonable. I didn't give him 5 stars, because after Thanksgiving he gets so busy, that he can't always handle new clients. He works at least 22 hours a day from Thanksgiving till Christmas, very little sleep he honestly tries to get to everyone. I have advised him to limit the number of new clients he takes for installations after Thanksgiving. He continues to think that he can install one more display, but as you read the other reviews, that sometimes doesn't happen. I have also advised him that he needs more sleep! So try to get your installation scheduled before Thanksgiving!"

"We are very pleased with the work performed by Twin Cities Electric. We added a kitchen island and in the process needed a bunch of electrical work done. We didn't plan out the electrical and needed them to come out on short notice. They were able to come out the week before Thanksgiving to get phase I done, thankfully, so we were able to get the rest of the construction done over the long weekend and be ready for phase II.
They did everything we wanted and helped with some of the decisions. Like placement of the can lights... who knew you shouldn't put them right over the working areas... them, not me! :)
These guys do the extras like cleaning up and preventing big messes.
They were out here last year doing a bunch of work and there wasn't a questions that we were calling them back to help with this project.  Thanks for the lights!! We no longer live in darkness!

Electrical questions, answered by experts

You can twist the wires before using a wire nut, but it’s not necessary. Electricians often twist wires before using a wire nut, which can help secure the connection and enhance electrical contact between wires. You can decide whether or not to twist the wires beforehand, or consult a local electrician if you need  professional opinion.

Most commonly, aesthetics and practicality influence a move. If your renovation or remodel involves the wall in question, you’ll obviously need to relocate. It all comes down to personal preference. You’ll need to hire a professional electrician for this task, so be sure to hire a licensed pro with plenty of experience with this type of electrical task.

Be careful not to drop your voltmeter or multimeter. Even a small fall can affect the tool’s ability to measure with accuracy. Always store your tools in their cases in a cool, dark place. Also, avoid touching the probes to each other while they’re connected to a circuit or another electrical component, and never tamper with anything inside the device.

Yes. You should always turn off the power to the work area before beginning, use a voltage tester to ensure it’s off, and wear protective gear, such as insulated gloves or safety glasses, to prevent risk of injury. Proper wiring and grounding techniques are also necessary to make sure the job is done right the first time and won’t harm any future homeowners.

Whole-house generators can run continuously for extended periods, even for weeks at a time (around 400 to 500 hours), as long as they have a sufficient fuel supply. However, this type of extensive use will increase wear and tear and can shorten the generator's overall lifespan. During long periods of operation, it's important to check and refill the engine oil as needed, potentially as frequently as daily depending on the model. If your generator uses a fuel tank, ensure it is kept full to prevent unexpected shutdowns.
