"Ben was really helpful in preparing my new office to move in. From painting and assembling furniture to building a kitchenette, his work was excellent. He was easy to work with and responsive. He communicated and was available. I appreciated his work and will continue to use him as necessary."

"As many of you know--finding a reputable home improvement company can be quite a challenge. We had some major projects to do in our yard and initially reached out to multiple companies requesting bids on building a 40 x 10 foot pergola, repairing a cedar fence and staining another major structure in our yard. Our experience in contacting home improvement companies was so disappointing. Inaccurate bids, no shows, and people showing up that presented themselves as home improvement companies but didn’t know what the heck they were doing. The only company that took the time to provide frequent consultation, accurate estimates, multiple visits to our property and consistent follow-up was Twin City Handyman! The entire staff was attentive to our needs and the projects were well done and completed on time. A big shout out to Darren, Kathy, Cory and Johnny and other staff members who assisted in completing our projects for their expertise and attention to detail. We highly recommend this company for all of your home improvement needs. Now, other members of our family are using TCH for their projects as well! Thanks TCH for a job well done. It was a pleasure working with you."

"

I was introduced to Mike Stafford and his construction business through a family friend. We contacted him in the spring of 2014 because the footings on our deck were heaving and causing damage to our house. He was able to come out and mitigate the issue so that it would not cause further damage until the footing could be fixed after the ground thawed. This was a huge benefit to us as the heaving would have caused much more costly damage to the house and the rest of the deck had he not been able to fix it quickly.

We had him set to repair the footings during the summer - it was a nasty job as it required him to dig in clay soil and the hole kept filling with water. So, it was a long process of bailing and digging. He was able to dig down deeper, secure the footings and also added rebar to ensure that they would not heave again. Clearly there was a problem with water drainage at the home.

We hired another contractor to address the water issue and install a patio. As we were putting the plans together, we decided to install a porch under the deck. Mike was a saint - he worked to provide several bids and options so that we could find one that would fit into our budget. Mike came through with a BEAUTIFUL project. I was continually impressed with his proactive communication - he provided regular updates on progress, apprised me of what time the crew would be onsite, met with me to go over questions/decisions I needed to make and was meticulous about every little detail of the project. He also coordinated his work and scheduled his team around other contractors working at the site and gave me much needed advice when I had questions.

We feel we hit the jackpot with Stafford Construction. If you're seeking a contractor with good communication, attention to detail and budget flexibility - as well as amazing design - then look no further. We would absolutely hire him again and can recommend him without reservation. THANK YOU, MIKE!!

Customers say: Quality work

"I used Greg at Heinen Garage Construction to take down my old garage and build me a new 26' x 32' garage. The process was kind of long, but he let me know ahead of time that he had a long waiting list, and all of the supply chain issues the world is having these days would be affecting how this progressed. I had a special order garage door, but they kept me posted on its time frame. All of the other work they did was just great. My new driveway is wonderful, as is all the extra space I now have. Greg has come out once, when I had a problem with a service door after construction was complete. He is very conscientious about his work and wants to make sure his customers are satisfied. I will definitely recommend him to all of my neighbors and friends."

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, building a swing set is cheaper than buying a prefabricated one, but this assumes you have all the tools and knowledge to complete the project. The average cost to build a swing set is $514, but you should also factor in the time and effort it will require—if you don’t want to give up your weekend, it’s worth considering buying instead of building.

Yes, barndominiums are designed to withstand strong weather and severe storms if they are built properly by trained professionals. Most barndominiums are made up of a steel structure that can protect a building from winds of up to 150 miles per hour and resist a variety of weather conditions without a major risk of structural damage to the exterior, foundation, or frame.

Whether it is better to buy or build a chicken coop depends on your priorities, primarily cost versus time and effort. Building your own chicken coop can be significantly more budget-friendly, often costing about half as much as buying a pre-made one. If you have the time and skills, building a coop from scratch is the most economical option. However, if your time or skills are limited, buying a kit and hiring a handyperson to assemble it can be more cost-effective than hiring a carpenter to build a custom coop from scratch. If you want a perfectly constructed coop without sacrificing your own time and energy, buying one is the easiest choice.

The difference between a pole barn and a stick-built barn is in the construction. Large poles in the ground provide support for pole barns. For stick-built barns, 2-by-4 or 2-by-6 lumber (known as sticks) create a frame around load-bearing beams. Stick-built construction is far more popular for residential homes. Pole barns are more cost-effective because they require fewer materials and less labor.

Average barndominiums last between 50 and 150 years depending on the materials they are made from, how well they are maintained, and the environment they are built in. Barndominiums are very durable and have a much longer lifespan than traditional wood homes. With proper care and maintenance, well-built barndominium homes can last generations.
