"John Funk and his apprentices Tyler and Megan were great to work with. They worked long hours to get the work done. The cost was not cheap, but we know that we got quality work and value added to our home. We would highly recommend Harrison Electric."

"Adam provided an estimate for wiring our new woodshop (24 x 32 feet).  His bid was thorough, detailed and competitive.  Once we awarded the work to Go Electric, we realized there had been a misunderstanding regarding the start date.  Adam graciously, and without complaint, rearranged his other scheduled jobs to accommodate our urgent request.  Adam worked directly with Connexus in solving a complex electrical hookup issue.    As part of the woodshop job and electrical hookup issues, Adam advised that we update our 1969 electrical panel.  The recommendation was made based on safety concerns, compliance with state and federal code, and the savings for us doing it now versus in the future.     After paying the final bill, there were a few unforeseen issues that were not part of the original project and Adam was quick to provide solutions and immediately scheduled the additional work.     Overall, Go Electric and staff (Joss and Nick) are personable, honest, clear and lightning-fast communicators, customer focused, well organized, polite, knowledgeable, and respectful (of our property and decisions).  Weâ ve worked with a lot of contractors and Adam and his team stand out.  All for a reasonable cost which was competitive with other bids.  Go Electric comes with our sterling recommendation - we do not have one complaint."

Small jobs welcome

"My experience with Tom was nothing short of first rate: • He responded promptly, and was able to schedule me next day at a time that worked for me • He arrived when he said he would, evaluated my issues, and got to work right away • He explained what he was doing, what he found, and gave me invaluable advice and recommendations • His approach was professional and his work was top notch • Tom's prices were more than fair for all that he did • I should add that he didn't try to sell me on unnecessary work or add-ons University Electric was a lucky find. Tom's now my go-to-guy for any electrical work I need in my new home. If you're looking for quality work at a highly competitive price, and honest advice from a knowledgeable electrical professional, give Tom a try. You won't be disappointed."

"Anchor Electric is going to be my go-to for electrical work in my home. As a new home buyer, I felt overwhelmed by the electrical work that needed to be done. Dan was efficient and confident. He upgraded our panel which made our home feel safer. We already are working with Dan on troubleshooting a different issue. I would definitely recommend Anchor Electric/Dan!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Bloomington, skipping required permits or hiring unqualified contractors are frequent mistakes. Homeowners sometimes overlook code requirements for GFCI and AFCI protection or underestimate how many circuits are needed for new appliances. Attempting complex upgrades, like panel replacements, without professional help can lead to safety issues. Ignoring outdoor outlet protection, especially for harsh winters, is another common oversight.

Helpful?

In Bloomington, homes with original wiring, frequent breaker trips, or two-prong outlets often benefit from electrical upgrades. If your panel is outdated or you notice flickering lights, it’s a sign your system may be overloaded. Properties near water, like Nine Mile Creek, should also watch for moisture issues affecting electrical safety. Upgrading supports modern appliances and improves both efficiency and safety.

Helpful?

In Bloomington, hidden costs can arise from required permits, inspections, or code upgrades such as adding GFCI and AFCI outlets. Older homes may need grounding improvements or asbestos abatement if original materials are disturbed. Additional expenses can include repairing walls after wiring work, relocating panels, or upgrading utility connections, especially if trenching is needed for underground service lines.

Helpful?

For Bloomington homes, choose copper wiring for reliability in cold climates and weatherproof outdoor boxes rated for low temperatures. Use UV-resistant conduit for exterior runs and select UL-listed components for safety. Kitchens and bathrooms benefit from 20-amp circuits, and installing LED-compatible dimmers or smart panels can improve energy efficiency. Always select materials suited for MN’s temperature swings and humidity.

Helpful?

When planning electrical work in Bloomington, consider how extreme winter temperatures can affect outdoor wiring and components. Heated garage outlets or ice dam prevention systems may be necessary. Utility rebates for energy-efficient upgrades and time-of-use electricity rates can impact your choices. Also, check for HOA guidelines, mature trees that may affect service lines, and the best seasonal timing for outdoor projects.
