Grout and caulk are commonly used together, especially in bathrooms. Grout goes between the tiles and keeps them sturdy and in place on the walls or floor. Porcelain countertops have a fairly long life span, sometimes lasting for decades. Depending on how much wear and tear you put your countertops through, it could last 25 to 50 years. But be warned, porcelain is also prone to cracking, so as long as you take good care of it, you’ll have those countertops looking brand new for years to come.

If your floor tile grout is cracked, unsealed, or has small holes, then it’s time to regrout your tile flooring. Your grout is more prone to staining when it’s worn down, so consider regrouting when it shows signs of wear.

The extent of the damage will determine whether a broken tile can be fixed without replacing it. For example, epoxy and paint can repair small cracks or chips without replacing the tile. This also assumes that there are no underlying problems, like water damage.
