"I had an amazing experience with Easy Exit Egress Window. Everything was professional and I felt completely comfortable with the job. Anthony (owner) returned every single call and answered every single question. Permit was pulled and job passed each inspection from the City. I couldn't be more happy with the egress window. I highly recommend this company!"

"Bosco home advisor straight forward and transparent . The most important that I like is no pressure and tell me call me anytime if I need more questions regarding the windows ( Marvin windows by Infinity) Regarding the window installer Russ his son Andrew and I believe the third guy Marty came on time the 5 days install all 43 new windows and every windows that they install each day I specifically check thoroughly the the inside and outside around the windows especially the caulking and also that they donâ  t know that I light a lighter around the window if thereâ  s air leak around surprise nothing . "Team from Power completed the work on time and cleaned up well after work was completed. Windows were measured correctly so replacement windows fit perfectly and were quality Pella windows versus no-name windows offered by other vendors."

"The installers were great. The salesperson made promises that he did not keep and he missed a window. When the person came to measure he also didn’t catch that I was having all my windows done except one. The windows look great. The response when I notified the co that one window was missed was very fast but added to my cost."

Windows questions, answered by experts

Using plastic shrink film over the window will cut down on drafts, which makes the air inside your home feel warmer. Plastic shrink film doesn’t quite have the insulative properties of a new window or of adding insulation inside the window jamb, but it will help. Plus, it’s a cost-effective solution to keeping your home warmer.

Removing a window isn’t a very long process. Depending on several factors, it can take anywhere from 20 minutes to upwards of an hour. The size of the window greatly impacts the time it takes to replace it. Accessibility is another big component. If it’s hard to reach the window or reaching it is dangerous, anticipate it taking longer.

Lastly, if the old window is in poor condition, it could take longer to remove it safely—especially if the frame has wood rot and is structurally unsound.

During hurricanes or other major storms, high winds can cause objects and debris to fly through the air, which can break your windows. Depending on how strong the storm is, the winds themselves may be strong enough to break your windows, too. Investing in storm windows or hurricane shutters can help protect you against potential window breakage.

Storm windows have about the same life span as standard windows—between 20 and 30 years. Vinyl and wood storm windows last longer than aluminum, but they all fall within that life span range. Of course, how long your storm windows last will depend on how much severe weather they see. Direct impacts, in particular, can quickly reduce how long your storm windows last.

Before you replace your windows, check your home warranty. Many home warranties don’t cover windows at all, while some have specific clauses about what they will and will not cover and what might void the warranty. If you have any questions, reach out to your insurance specialist, and never make assumptions.
