"Hired these guys to replace a hot water heater. While unpacking it in the driveway, a careless installer threw the packaging material and it landed on our car, denting the hood. They immediately acknowledged what they had done, called their office, spoke to someone named Dave, who reportedly advised us they would take care of the damage and would be in touch soon to make arrangements for repairs. That was the last time we heard from these clowns. "Dave", whoever he is, never called back, and failed to return numerous phone calls. In other words, he ghosted us. Bottom line on these morons - hell will freeze over long before I'll ever use them again. "

"Quenton and his helper did a great job for use. He replaced our furnace and A/C unit. I had another well-know company come out first and give me a ridiculous quote. Boroff Mechanical was awesome."

"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. There was a deadline for installing this part before tenants arrive. They did not care, would not m"

"Well, I first called for an appointment on Tuesday. I spoke with Julie on the phone I thought she had said that they had an opening that same day from 2-4pm. She asked if there was a possibility that they could come any earlier at 1:30pm. At first I didn't think I could be there, but I then got the approval to take the afternoon off from work so I could be there. I even called her back to let her know that I would be home that afternoon, in case they could come earlier. I waited all afternoon until 4:30pm and called them back to say that didn't show up.A different girl had answered the phone and said Julie had scheduled me for the following day on Wednesday!! I could not make the appointment for that day. There was a break down in communication there and was asked if I would consider rescheduling. I was hesitant, but I did reschedule for Friday the 24th from 12-2pm. The 2 guys did show up on time and within 10 minutes, located the source of the gas leak. It was coming from one of the elbows in the gas line about half way from the main and the furnace. After turning off the gas, they removed the piping up to the joint. It was in an awkward spot between the floor joist and the basement bathroom wall. It took a lot of hard muscle to remove the elbow and then tighten back up so that it wouldn't leak anymore. Those guys worked so hard at it. They did an awesome job!! After the job was completed and payment was made, I had asked for a receipt via email, but it didn't go thru. They had phoned the office and asked Julie to send me a receipt from her computer. She said she would send it. I assumed it would have been that day. Well by Monday the 29th, I still had received one. I had to call back again to get one. I would have given all straight A's except I am not very impressed with Julie who answers phones, schedules appointments and sending out email receipts. So because of that I am rating them a C for Responsiveness. There was no communication from them after the scheduling mishap and email receipt."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, government incentives and programs are available to encourage energy-efficient upgrades in many regions. These incentives may include tax credits, rebates, grants, and low-interest loans for homeowners who invest in energy-efficient improvements such as HVAC system upgrades, insulation, and efficient windows. The availability and specific details of these incentives can vary by location, so check with your local government or utility company to explore your options.

No. Your furnace does not run your air conditioner. Both units use the same system of ductwork to move conditioned air throughout your home, but you can have a furnace without having an air conditioner and vice versa. Furnaces are only for heating your home. You can buy a system that does both, however, like a split system or a heat pump (yes, heat pumps cool, too).

Both evaporator coils and condenser coils are recyclable and contain valuable, sellable metals such as copper and aluminum. Not only is it more earth-friendly to take them to a local metal recycling facility, but you can also trade them in for cash. Also, once the coils are removed from the system, they won’t have any traces of refrigerant, so you won’t have to arrange for recycling Freon or R-410A unless you’re disposing of the entire AC system.

Yes, a dirty air filter can cause a higher electric bill. That’s because clogged filters make it harder for air to flow through your HVAC system, which forces it to work harder and use more energy. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, replacing dirty filters can save you between 5% and 15% in utility costs.

You should only run your dehumidifier in warmer months, such as spring and summer, to get the best performance out of your system. The air gets drier when temperatures drop in the winter months, creating less of a need for a dehumidifier. However, when to run a dehumidifier will depend on your local climate.
