"I was extremely happy with the job Mario and crew at M & L Painting did on staining my large deck and two sets of steps. He was very professional and easy to work with.. Also was able to schedule right away for the next week and finish in one day as it was a smaller job for him. They worked all day non stop and even sanded the handrails on my steps nice and smooth. TheY cleaned up very nicely also. I would definitely hire him again if I need any painting or remodeling work done. GREAT jOB!"

"Kodra Painting LLC is prompt, efficient, and clear. I would recommend for any internal, external, or staining projects you may have. They use quality paint and materials, and include patching and repair, but they do a very good job on everything. It's not like they do "OK" patching/repair and great paint. They do all of it, and they do it all well."

Small jobs welcome

"I thought Truecoats did excellent work very happy with the job they did and the workers that did the job. Everybody was very professional and worked very hard to get this job done. I would recommend them to anybody that would need service done like this and was very happy with the price of the project Very fair price and will definitely hire all of them again for other projects. I had them completely changed the color from a dark brown deck to the color you see now I also had some vinyl siding painting in the front of my garage in which they spray painted after they cleaned and power washed all the vinyl siding and was very happy with the outcome"

"The last windstorm successfully removed one strip of my aging aluminum siding, right up at the roof line of the second story. I was too chicken to get up that high and attempt a fix, and was concerned about getting a pro to help with such a small job. I called Doug at Wolverine, and he was able to make some room in his schedule and get someone out the next morning to help me out. They were able to put the strip back where it belongs, and I can’t even tell that it came off. The added bonus was that the fix ran me a lot less than I anticipated. I’ll add Wolverine’s number to my go-to list."

"Pinnacle Painting did an amazing job painting the exterior and parts of the interior of my house. All the painters were super hard working, friendly, and paid attention to detail. Ryan is a class act, he explained every detail during my estimate and there were no hidden fees. In fact, my gutters were cleaner than he thought so he took some money off my bill, which is super ethical. Ryan also spent an hour after the job going through old paints from another painting job to color match and giving me tips on how to touch up a few areas. His price was very fair. Interestingly, he was an art teacher before owning a painting business so he has a great eye for color and attention to detail. Nothing but 5 stars for Pinnacle and I will be recommending him to all my friends!"

"Nice Man, Good Painter, a tad pricey I Would hire him again ,but this time Negotiate a better price and pay per the job and not agree to pay by the hour which adds up quickly, that was my mistake through ... He paints very well but be up front with what you expect to be done in a detailed written job quote.. He is a very good painter"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Wood stain is not flammable after it dries. The solvent in wood stain is what causes the liquid form to be highly flammable, but the stain drying process involves the solvents dissolving, which leaves behind a non-flammable product on your wood project. Wood stain is, however, flammable before you apply it, so you should always store partially full cans and used wood stain rags away from sources of heat and open flames.

Adding a second coat of stain to wood can even out the color to some extent, but it won't drastically alter the hue if the initial application is too light or too dark. It's more effective at enhancing the richness of the color rather than significantly changing it. Ensure the first coat is dry before applying the second.

Whether to paint or stain a deck depends on your personal preference for appearance and budget. Stain provides a natural look with a range of undertones, is typically less expensive, and may only require one coat, but it does not last as long as paint. Paint offers a sleeker finish with a virtually unlimited color palette. Both options will protect your deck from outdoor elements like rain, snow, and general wear and tear.

By applying protective finishes and using durable materials that withstand weather and time.

The general consensus is that two coats of stain are required and since the cedar is siding, a third coat of sealant is always a good idea. This helps protect the wood and stain, so you won’t need to resand and restain for at least a decade. Each stain after the first will darken the wood, so be aware of that when choosing a colored stain.
