I remarked that Michigan does not charge sales tax (6%) on labor. It should be the priced quoted.He said it was a gasoline surcharge. My argument was not with him so I aid it and contacted the office. They said it's been between 4-8% for years. I remarked about the lack of disclosure at the time of the quote or on Angi's list. He said he gets very few complaints. Offereed no resolution. Hence, this post."

"Arrived and got started right away. I paid him upfront and had to shower and change to head out for evening. I received pictures taken of a portion of the duct, was disappointed I could not see to the end of the vent clean out. My other concern is how the service tech left the dryer vent curled up and partially crushed as he put the dryer back in place, and then took this picture to display it. It would seem obvious that once you saw the vent like that you would correct it. Not happy with that. "

The simplest way to know if your return air vent is working properly is to test it. Take a piece of tissue or paper (the thinner, the better) and hold it up alongside the air return. If the return air vent is working as expected, it should suck the paper toward the vent. 

Seeing black dots around the air vents is alarming, but don’t worry. It’s probably just a build-up of soot and darkened dust. Soot is just a byproduct of burning organic materials, so it tends to form in the winter months.

You should not put boric acid into your home’s air vents. While sprinkling boric acid in roach-prone areas is an effective way to get rid of them, it’s not safe to introduce those chemicals into your home’s air system. Instead, put boric acid or diatomaceous earth in a spot that roaches may walk through, infesting them and the rest of the infestation.

After you clean mildew or mold that appears in your home, you expect the nasty odor to disappear, too. Sometimes, though, the odor can linger after cleaning. To get rid of a mold smell, you may need to clean the area every few days for a few weeks. Use a dehumidifier or fans to try to remove moisture from the area. If the odor remains after a few weeks, you may still have mold or mildew in the area. Call a mold testing professional for another inspection.
