"We had several quotes to repair or redo our roof on our company. Todd came out with the manufacturer of the product and demonstrated the product as well as showed us finished projects and provided references. We chose him out of the other contractors because of the professionalism and quality of the product as well as the manufacturers warranty. They were finished in less than a week and the manufacturer came immediately to inspect the roof and gave us the warranty immediately, no waiting. It ended up being more cost effective to put a new roof on than to repair patches and in the end, cheaper. We can already feel the temperature difference inside the building with this new roofing material! We are very satisfied customers."

Chimney caps may be installed by a few different professionals, including a chimney sweep or a mason that specializes in fireplaces and chimneys. A gas fireplace technician is the best person to install a chimney cap on a gas log fireplace vent to be sure the cap is appropriate for the application.

Yes, it’s possible to replace drip edge flashing without removing shingles, but it’s not a good idea. You’ll have to lift the bottom shingles up to remove the old drip edge, install the new material, and then lay the lifted roofing material over the new drip edge. Bending roof shingles can cause damage, and if you have ongoing issues with roof leaks that prompt drip edge replacement, it’s a good idea to consider a roof and drip edge replacement to avoid ongoing issues.

The type of roof and roofing materials that are best for your mobile home depends primarily on its shape and slope. Rubber materials, such as EPDM and TPO, are best for flat, low-sloped, or bowed mobile home roofs. Asphalt shingles or metal roofing are best for mobile homes with sloped rooflines.

The proper specifications for furring strips can vary, so you should always consult the roofing manufacturer's guidelines or your roofer. However, general recommendations are as follows:

  • Thickness: Furring strips are typically 1 to 1-1/2 inches thick, meaning standard 1-by or 2-by lumber works well. In areas with extreme winds, a thinner strip may be preferred to limit how much air can get under the roof and cause uplift. A thicker strip can add slightly more insulation but will also increase installation costs.

  • Spacing: The recommended spacing for furring strips is between 12 and 24 inches apart on center. Proper spacing is crucial for ensuring good airflow, adequate drainage, noise reduction, and better energy efficiency. The ideal spacing can depend on the roof's pitch and the specific type of metal roofing being installed.

The lifespan of asphalt shingles is typically between 15 and 30 years, depending on the type of shingle and other factors. Standard 3-tab shingles have the shortest lifespan, around 10 to 15 years. Architectural shingles last longer, averaging 20 to 25 years. Luxury or designer asphalt shingles are the most durable, with a lifespan of 40 years or more. Climate, installation quality, and regular maintenance also play a significant role in how long your shingles will last. Signs that they need replacement include granule loss, bald spots, and roof leaks.
