"Did a great job. Other contractors said patio could not be repaired and needed to be ripped out to put a new patio in. ACE saved me thousands of dollars by lifting and caulking existing patio. They also did a good job of matching the color of the caulk to the stamped concrete color of my patio. Highly recommend these guys."

"Initially I was a little frustrated because I had emailed and did not get a response.  However, Louis responded and did an outstanding job with the inspection as well as the work that we needed to have done which came as a result of the inspection.  He and his crew were very punctual, neat and did a beautiful job on my chimney.  I did not feel pressure to have the work done because of the inspection.  I knew the chimney needed work and would have been questioning the accuracy of the inspection had they not found the need to repair it.  I actually did recommend them to a friend who also had work done and she was extremely happy with the crew and the quality of the job (which was much more extensive than mine).  I was very impressed and would certainly use them again for any brickwork I may need.

"I contacted Lombardo Restoration on May 15 to purchase an Angie's List Big Deal for $349 to repair and/or replace several electrical outlets in our home which I thought had been damaged as a result of a lightening strike during a recent electrical storm.  Leonard arrived on time May 30 as scheduled.  After inspecting the problem areas he determined that they could be corrected by resetting a GFCI outlet located in our basement storage area that had been hidden by a portable clothes closet.  He offered to accept $50 for correcting the basement problem, $20 for replacing a damaged GFCI outlet in our garage, and refund our $349 Big Deal original purchase price.  Integrity of this nature is a rare commodity these days!  I recommend Lombardo Restoration to anyone in need of electrical expertise from a friendly, competent and honest company!

"The estimator who came out in advance told me to buy 5 replacement concrete blocks for the repair, which I did.   I was disappointed that of the 2 men who came out to do the job, one could speak no English, and the other limited English.
After discussing the job, I left the house for a preplanned appointment.  When I returned, they were done and gone, and had cleaned up fine.  However, they used less than 2 1/2 of the blocks in making the repair, which disappointed me.  I had thought they would dig below the ground level somewhat to replace those blocks, but they didn't.  Moreover, one of the blocks that they re-used has pretty large holes in it (unlike the new concrete blocks I had bought); I would have preferred they not "re-use" any of the blocks,  The repair looks "OK," although the new blocks stick out slightly more than the original ones ? and it makes me concerned about the longevity of the repair.

"He did a nice job in the fireplace, and they came out and did the work the day after I accepted the estimate. I was going to hire them to fill some cracks in our brick veneer too, but he told me that if I wanted to save money I could do it myself with a $3 tube of gel from Lowes. Always nice to work with someone honest!"

Concrete Resurfacing questions, answered by experts

Repairs typically take 1-3 days, depending on the damage and weather conditions.

Yes, you can pour new concrete over an existing concrete patio. This process, known as resurfacing, is a common repair method used by professionals. For the best results, ensure the old concrete surface is clean and free from debris. The new layer of concrete should be at least three to four inches thick and include reinforcement materials, such as fiberglass fibers or wire mesh, to prevent cracking and spalling. With proper technique, a resurfaced patio can last for 15 to 20 years.

Costs vary by materials used, surface size, and complexity. Refacing can be cost-effective compared to full replacements, with an average range between $300 and $1,200.

Whether resurfacing concrete is worth the cost depends on the condition of the underlying slab. Resurfacing can be a good option if the concrete is in decent condition with only minor issues like standard wear and tear, small cracks, chips, or discoloration. In these cases, resurfacing adds a protective layer that can extend the concrete's lifespan without the high cost of a full replacement.

However, if the concrete has significant damage—such as deep cracks, peeling, sinking, or is broken up—resurfacing may not be worth it. The new overlay is only as good as the concrete beneath it, and existing problems like peeling and cracks are likely to show through the new surface. In situations with severe damage, replacing the entire slab is often more cost-effective in the long run and will yield a better result.

To make the best decision, it's recommended to have a licensed concrete specialist inspect the damage and determine if resurfacing is the right choice for your situation.

Concrete resurfacing and concrete overlay are terms often used interchangeably to describe the process of applying a new, thin layer of pre-blended concrete over an existing slab. This process enhances the durability and appearance of the concrete, giving it a fresh look without the high cost of a full replacement. The new layer is typically between 1/4-inch and 1-inch thick, significantly less than the 4 inches required for a new slab, and can be stamped, colored, or textured for a custom finish.

While the terms are often considered the same, their meaning can sometimes vary by contractor. Some may use "overlay" to describe a thicker application that adds structural integrity, while "resurfacing" might refer to a thinner layer intended for cosmetic upgrades. Other common names for this process include concrete restoration, concrete refinishing, and concrete rejuvenation.
