"Dennis Hearth and Home installed a beautiful gas fireplace for us and the masonry work was excellent. We have also used them for all our household maintenance, everything from shingling our roof and fixing leaks to constructing steps and handrails. I would recommend them to everyone. They are courteous and polite, do an excellent job and clean the area before they leave. A Christian family owned business. I give 5 stars"

"Said they would be at my house btween 1 and 4 pm on a Monday. Steve called and let me know when he was 30-35 minutes away. Arrived on time. Was courteous, polite and professional. Came in the back door because he asked for the shortest distance to the fireplace. Laid down drop cloths. Swept the chimney and explained to me he saw more soot than expected. We agreed that it was the lack of dry fire wood. Vacuumed up all the soot. Also shared with me about a crack in the firewall but that it did not require replacement at this time, but provided an estimate for when it does require replacement down the road. Explained to me about a lever on the left side of the fireplace used to draw in outside air. Climbed up a ladder and onto the roof to inspect the cap/vent on top of the chimney and said everything looked good. Price was higher than I paid for service in the past through another company. Did not clean the glass doors, but I did not clarify whether or not that was part of the service."

Customers say: True professional

"Brad was professional, punctual and personable. Initially I showed him some bricks that were either loose or totally off our front steps to our house. We also needed some repair on a brick walkway set in mortar. Upon his extra thorough inspection of the steps, many more bricks were slightly loose. He gave me many options. He told me that the labor costs would be more extensive to repair all the bricks on the treads and suggested a solid stone tread. He offered options on this product and layout. The project turned out beautifully and looks like it should have always had the stone on the treads. He also pressure washed and sealed the walkway and stoop vastly improving the look. We built our house in 1995 and this was all original."

"I can't recommend Quality Outdoor Services enough! Shawn and his crew built an impressive boulder wall accented with beautiful plants and trees. He even explained in detail the techniques in which they were able to remedy and redirect my drainage issues and how the plants he installed would also help with and benefit from the entire project. His crew demonstrated excellent professionalism, from the way they interacted with my neighbors and family to how they meticulously cleaned up my property after the job was completed. You can't put a price on knowing a job was done correctly and efficiently. 10/10"

"I was impressed with Chuck from Shamrock Chimney. He was realistic in his discussion and went thru various options from converting to a gas fireplace to wood inserts. He discussed the issues with the existing field stone face and converting to a two way fireplace. He certainly made me comfortable to consider Shamrock should the project move forward."

"Sweetwater Electric installed my Generac whole house generator. Part way through the installation, we discovered a problem with the landscaping and placement of the generator. Sweetwater was patient while we worked out the issue and resumed work the day after the landscaper left. Alan and Thomas worked well together as a team and finished the installation without a problem. I would highly recommend them for your Generac, or general electrical, work. They are conscientious, hardworking, amenable and clean up after the job is complete. What more could you ask for?"

FAQs for fire pit installation projects in Howell, MI

Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.

When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
