"Kevin showed up promptly at the appointed time and was very professional while describing our options. We decided to do the full-bore water jetting. He showed me the entire operation, watching via the camera while the roots were completely eliminated throughout the drain system, very interesting. I would highly recommend this service."

"Paul and Adam were great! Chris got me on the schedule the same day my bathtub trip waste and overflow broke. They arrived as scheduled even in the midst of a snowstorm. Friendly and professional. They covered their shoes when they came in and cleaned up before they left. They installed a new trip waste and overflow and fixed the drain. My bathtub is fully repaired and draining like it should. Thank you to Paul, Adam and the Capital Plumbing team! I will use them for my future plumbing needs and highly recommend Capital Plumbing."

"Paul was unable to clear the drain due to a break in the line near the storm drain. He has since followed up with an excavator and will proceed with work to fix the problem. Oh! The joys of home ownership."

French Drains questions, answered by experts

You can often unclog a garbage disposal in less than 10 minutes, though sometimes you might need longer if you’re unsure what’s causing the clog. For minor clogs, consider plunging the drain, flushing the drain with baking soda and vinegar, or using an Allen wrench to free the clog. If the clog is more severe, contact a local plumber.

Start by unscrewing the overflow valve, which is located on the wall of your tub between the floor drain and the tub spout. Gently insert a plumbing snake down into the pipe, move it back and forth, and pull it out. Remove any hair, debris, and soap scum that comes out with it. Repeat the process until the snake comes out clean, and then reinstall the cap on your overflow valve.

Yes, flushing a clogged toilet can make it overflow. While flushing the toilet may push enough pressure through the system to dislodge the clog, this is unlikely. Your best bet is to use a plunger and hope the suction can break up whatever is blocking the pipe. If this doesn’t work, use a plumbing auger or call a pro to help.

Yes, pop-up drains commonly get clogged with hair, soap scum, and toothpaste. It is important to know how to properly clean the drain or get professional help to ensure it remains clear and can drain water effectively.

No. You should dispose of all oil-based finishing products through a local hazardous waste program. Not only can oil-based finishes be hazardous for the environment if disposed of in the sink, but they can cause clogs in your pipes and stop up your drains. Most municipal garbage or waste disposal companies have a specific location or pick-up schedule for hazardous materials, so that’s your best bet to get rid of excess finishing products.
