"TERRIBLE PEIPLE TO WORK WITH. IM OUT $50. It took about 2 weeks to get Brian out to give me an estimate. At that time, he told me he charges $50 for an estimate which goes towards the work if he’s hired. He’d not mentioned that before and it was a red flag but I gave him the $50 and he said he’d be back on 7/19. I texted him the day before to confirm and he didn’t respond. So I texted again that evening and the text wouldn’t deliver. I called and a msg said I was calling from a restricted number, he blocked me! I called Cameron the next morning and explained what happened and he said he was trying to reach Brian as well. He told me he’d come out and do the work and would call me back with some options of when he could come. Four days have passed and no call back. I’ve tried calling again and his mailbox is full. TERRIBLE WAY TO DO BIZ!!"

You’ll know you need to replace the pump in your hot tub if you hear loud or unusual noises when the machine is running or notice a significant decrease in water pressure. A leak or altogether failure of the hot tub may also indicate a problem with the pump, but you’ll need a professional to investigate the source of the issue.

Where you drain a hot tub largely depends on local regulations, but you must not drain chemically treated water where it can damage the environment. Direct the water toward a sanitary sewer drain that will take it to a treatment facility. If your lawn has a dedicated drainage area that’s free from plants and foundations, you can likely drain it there. Avoid storm drains, as the hot tub water will enter waterways and could hurt aquatic life. You should drain your hot tub three to four times a year to give it a thorough cleaning. This should take about an hour, but it depends on the size of your tub.

It’s less expensive to leave your hot tub on all the time, though you’ll want to keep it at a reduced temperature. How much you use the hot tub is also a factor. You’ll want to keep it at a constant temperature between 80 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit for weekly or daily use, then bump it up right before you get in. If you don’t plan to use your hot tub that often, you can turn it off as long as there’s no risk of freezing.  

In most cases, it is safe to clean a hot tub with vinegar. You will want to verify that your hot tub manufacturer lists vinegar as a safe cleaning product; however, given that vinegar is chemical-free, cleans, deodorizes, and is safe for people and pets, it is usually a good option. You can use vinegar to clean the hot tub shell, interior and exterior spa surfaces, hot tub jets, hot tub filter, and other parts. It is considered a strong, safe, and natural cleanser that can kill bacteria, remove mold and mildew spores, erase water spots, and remove hard water stains.
