"One oven doesn't work at all ( my choice, see above), the "working" oven was never calibrated properly so using it is hit or miss. It's time to call American Home Shield to see about replacing the entire unit. I'm waiting to finish other home projects before calling them. I don't know if I'll request Greenway again."

Pool lights are designed to be safe by protecting swimmers from electrocution. These lights are made with waterproof fixtures and seals to prevent contact with the water.

Electrocution from pool lights is still possible, but rare. Faulty wiring or broken lighting equipment can make lights unsafe, so it’s important to replace lights as needed and have an electrician inspect and upgrade the wiring.

Any number between 7.2 and 7.8 is an ideal pH for swimming pools or 80 to 120 ppm. Your pool testing kit should be able to measure both of these numbers. If your pool’s pH is below this range, the water is too acidic and can cause scaling and damage to pool equipment. If the water’s pH is above this range, it can decrease the effectiveness of necessary chemicals, like chlorine.

If you’re wondering how to find a leak in an aboveground pool, the process is the same as it is for an in-ground pool. Note that the vinyl liner in aboveground pools is fairly thin, so sharp objects easily puncture it. Additionally, the liner can wear down after constant exposure to pool chemicals, especially when chlorine levels are higher than they should be. For these reasons, small holes in the vinyl liner often cause leaks, but you can easily detect them with the dye test.

While you shouldn’t notice water that has an appropriate amount of chlorine in it (less than 4 parts per million), you could feel sick from drinking overly chlorinated water. Chlorine exposure can cause nausea, vomiting, coughing, and dizziness. Chronic chlorine exposure (meaning multiple or repeated instances) can make you feel like you have the flu, according to the CDC.

Losing some water from splashing and evaporation is normal. However, if you notice a rapid drop in the water level or are adding water more frequently than usual, you might have a leak. Other common signs of a pool leak include:

  • Unexplained soft, mushy, or wet spots in the yard.

  • Cracks in the pool's structure or falling tiles.

  • Higher-than-normal water bills.

  • Persistent algae growth or water discoloration.

  • Standing water near the pump, pipes, or other pool equipment.
