"Everything went well. The work was done professionally. One thing that stands out with Stonebridge is that the majority of their workers are direct employees. Dawn, the owner, stopped in frequently to check on the progress and quality of work. From beginning design through completed kitchen everything went as agreed upon. No surprises. I will use Stonebridge again for future bathroom renovations. We could not be more pleased."

"Elysium was quick and fair with their estimate. The painters were punctual, friendly, clean, and quiet. Listening to and working with their interior designer was both fun and enlightening. The work quality is fantastic. House looks great!

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

British architect John Nash is credited with creating the Italianate style of architecture. The style was further popularized in the U.S. by landscape architect Andrew Jackson Downing and architect Calvert Vaux. The style spread across the U.S. due to Downing’s popular book on the style and the availability of plans and materials due to the mass production of the Industrial Revolution.

When you think about Arts and Crafts-style homes, you probably think of a Craftsman house or a bungalow-style Craftsman. Craftsman is one of the major styles developed during the Arts and Crafts movement, but it checks most boxes. Craftsman houses have low-pitched roofs, exposed rafters, open floor plans, and stunning wood finish.

Some architects include interior design in their portfolio of offerings, while some architectural firms employ interior designers to handle that aspect of home building projects or refer clients to interior designers they’ve worked with in the past. Ask a local architect whether they offer interior design services as well.

One of the easiest ways to save money when hiring a holiday decorator is to provide storage for your decorations. If you have the space, you can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars by avoiding storage costs through your professional. It’s also a good idea to provide as much direction as possible for your professional, as this can cut down on design services. Finally, you can pay for your decorator to take down your decorations at the end of the season, but packaging and storing them yourself will save money on labor.

Current trends in custom furniture design are heavily influenced by a desire for sustainability and functionality, often incorporating reclaimed or eco-friendly materials. There is also a focus on multifunctionality, allowing pieces to adapt to various needs and spaces.
