"MPV Kitchen and Baths remodeled my kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen remodel included replacing flooring, replacing cabinets, and removing 2 walls. Not only was the quality of work impeccable, they were able to give me design ideas and ways to stay within my budget. My kitchen is now a show stopper. They guaranteed my satisfaction with every detail. I would highly recommend them."

"Neal came to take a look at the job and decided he could do it right away.  That was great for me.  He showed me exactly what he was going to do.  Put down drop cloths and covered areas that might be exposed to the plaster.  He fixed the chipped parts and the cracks to the point of being very smooth.  He told me to wait for it to dry and if I was not pleased for any reason he would come back and fix it.  He vacuumed before he left with a shop vac and cleaned as much as possible.  The next day I contacted Lakes to have the ceiling painted, I was so pleased with the job.  They sent Neal back and he put a coat of primer and 3 coats of paint.  The ceiling is great.  I will be calling them back for my passthru bedroom later on in the year.  I highly recommend this company.

"Professional from start to finish.  Within a day of getting the estimate they were at the house working with a team to get the job completed quickly.  Staff were fast, friendly, and the price was better than any other place we checked into.  We were extremely satisfied with the finished product.  Kevin W. and his team get 5 stars from us, and we will be contacting him for any future painting needs! Great job!

"Workers polite and on time.  Some missed spots on ceiling. The paint job suffered because the original drywall taping was not applied evenly.  Didn't realize how much of a problem this would be until the paint job was finished.  I would have paid extra to have the taping sanded down for a smoother finish, but the workers didn't offer that option.  Since I'm putting some storage items on or against the painted walls, I won't have the paint job redone.  I'll have a better understanding of the prep work needed should I ever have the garage interior repainted.

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

It’s unlikely. Not many baseboard heaters come with designs that offer the option to switch to a new kind of cover, but you can certainly ask the manufacturer for more information. Keep in mind, a cover with the same dimensions as your old cover isn’t guaranteed to fit because clasps, screws, and brackets may be in different places. The only way to be sure is to find an alternate cover that’s made to work with your specific model.

Deciding to hire an interior designer or an interior decorator is entirely dependent on what you’re looking for out of your project and your budget. Interior decorators typically cost less than interior designers, both in hourly rates and overall project costs.

If you want to add furnishings to your home but it’s otherwise set with permanent fixtures, an interior decorator would be best for you. However, if you are looking to remodel your home or are building a new home and would like help with permanent structures like cabinets, showers, and overall layouts, an interior designer is best.

While the terms 'interior designer' and 'interior decorator' are often used interchangeably, they represent distinct professions with some overlapping work. The primary difference lies in the scope of their projects.

An interior decorator focuses on the aesthetics of a space, making less permanent decisions about decor. Their work involves selecting colors, fabrics, furniture, wall art, paint, and other finishes to 'dress' a room and enhance its style.

An interior designer has a broader scope that includes a decorator's aesthetic focus but also extends to the structural and functional aspects of a space. Designers are qualified to plan layouts, make structural changes, and manage overall functionality. They handle permanent decisions regarding fixtures like cabinets and bathtubs, establish floor plans, and may hire contractors.

Due to the technical skills required, interior designers typically have formal education, certification, and may hold a license, which can result in higher fees. As a general rule, it is best to hire an interior designer for major remodeling projects and an interior decorator for projects focused on establishing or refreshing a home's interior style.

Services include layout planning, furniture selection, color coordination, and lighting design to optimize your space.

Whether you should mix cabinet pulls and knobs comes down to personal preference and the space you're decorating. Choosing matching cabinet hardware creates a more cohesive look, but it's not as distinct and eye-catching as a mix-and-match design. Smaller spaces benefit most from matching hardware since too many styles can visually crowd or overwhelm a small room.
