"They are not the cheapest, but they are by far the most expensive. You get what you pay for. You would be crazy not to hire Tim, Nick and the team. Had framing issues which made my new home unlivable in the guest bedrooms. Tim and his team came through and took all of the anxiety away from my wife and I and fixed our framing in 2 days flat. Again, you would be crazy not to hire these guys. They are simply the best."

Small jobs welcome

"They did a really good job and they stand behind their work. The prices are competitive and they take pride in their work. I had a really old front door that was not insulated and they put in a new one with plenty of insulation. They also put in a new storm door and a garage side door that meant making a new doorway that's sealed properly. They answered all my questions and were respectful of the property"

"Excellent work. M is a real problem solver. He figured alternative solutions to fancy bike racks that were not working; so that actually saved me money by returning them. He fixed a squeak on a closet door that was probably like that for 50 years. He’s very thorough and knowledgeable. He is now my official handyman!"

"I have a very complicated job with four different colors and many sharp angles and high ceilings. I also wanted all my trim board painted and doors painted. They also refinished my front door and fixed areas outside the house. They were very pleasant, attentive to my needs, and did a fabulous job!"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

Framing a basement takes three to five days, on average, when completed by a professional, though it may take longer for a larger space. Keep in mind this doesn’t include the time to complete the design, obtain permits, and install the drywall on the framing. On average, fully finishing a basement takes an average of 45 days.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.

The average cost of DIY window framing is about $40 to $60 in materials. If you hire a window treatment professional, you’ll pay for materials plus labor costs—anywhere from $250 to $800 per window. The final cost is highly dependent on the window size, as larger windows are heavier and more difficult to install, as well as the type of window framing material.

You may need a permit to install your window seat. Even though it's an indoor modification, some municipalities require permits for any built-ins added to homes. Check with your carpenter or, if you're DIY-ing, do some research on your city's requirements.
