"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Both wood-burning stoves and fireplaces can emit smoke and other combustion gases that are harmful to human health. According to the American Lung Association, wood smoke can lead to coughing and wheezing as well as long-term health impacts like increased risks for heart attacks and stroke. 

Newer models meet the modern efficiency standards set in 2020 by the Environmental Protection Agency for cleaner burning, more efficient wood stoves. Regular maintenance can also minimize smoke.

Modern wood-burning stoves are very effective, reaching around 80% efficiency. That’s because models built after 1988 are designed to meet standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to operate more efficiently and produce less air pollution. If you have an older wood stove, it may not be as efficient.

A fireplace can take anywhere from a few hours to several weeks to remodel, depending on the complexity of the project. For example, for a simple paint job, you’ll spend very little time touching up your fireplace, while larger remodels that involve replacing or repairing a fireplace can take up to 4 weeks.

If you have a gas fireplace with an electric ignition and you’re experiencing a power outage, you will need to light your fireplace’s pilot manually before you can start a fire. The instructions should be in the manufacturer’s manual.

When your fireplace is not in use for longer periods of time, such as over the summer, you can keep smells at bay by spraying either a commercial fireplace deodorizing product or a blend of one part distilled white vinegar to one part water around the walls of the fireplace. 

Or, you can place a container of charcoal inside the fireplace to absorb odors. Just be sure to remove it before it’s time to start using the fireplace again.
