Jim Gardner

Jim is quite the professional. He was prompt and explained the work to be done, how long it would take and the overall price. He met all my expectations. His helper was also polite and respectful. When the job was done you would have never known that he'd been there - he cleaned the area just as he found it. I would defintely hire him again.

It went absolutely fine. He's a little pricey.

So far, great. Not everything is finished yet, but that's on my end, not Jim's. He is really good at what he does and if he can't do something he tells you, talks it out with you and works to find a solution. I like the fact that even though my husband is usually the one here when Jim is working, he conducts all business dealings with me. He respects the fact that I hired him and does not take that lightly and is not at all dismissive. I can't say how much I appreciate that.

Jim was responsive and able to fit us right in. Quote was slightly less than another and with the ability to get the job done sooner, we went with him. He worked with another guy and they completed the job in a week. There was a spot that my husband attempted to DIY that needed extra attention and Jim kept coming back until it was right. He was very friendly and a good communicator.

Excellent, repairs were made and not only was water damage repaired and door properly sealed, after he re-hung it, it opens and closes smoothly. Something it hadn't done since house was new.

Great. He picked up the door, mounted the new one well, cleaned up and that was that.

Jim knows what he is doing and is very resourceful/creative at solving difficult problems.  He has been updating my 45 year old home since last summer.  If you expect a rigid 9a - 5p schedule, that may be difficult due to his purchasing of supplies, crew scheduling, and so on, but he will be there and do what needs to be done to get the job completed well.  Jim does not have a problem with fix-it/touch-up issues which may arise after the big job is done.  I recommend Jim highly and have other future projects, which he will be doing  as well.  In addition, Jim has replaced a outdoor basement window-well, custom built shelving/garden station in the garage, power washed the house exterior . . . the list is long!

When initially called he was very busy and said he couldn't get at my job for a couple of months. He promised he would get to me before snow came. Some 75 days later he called me and made arrangements to assess the job. He arrived punctually to do the assessment, set the price, and agreed to do the job a couple of days later. He was on time to do the job and completed it. His work was good and he cleaned up. I will use him again.

Jim is a nice guy, and his services a pretty good value. I would definitely work with him again if I were strapped for cash and I didn't value my time very much.
Jim came over promptly the very same day I emailed him asking if he could give me a quote on replacing a couple of spigots. Then he took ~2 weeks to email me with a quote, which was simply his hourly rate. We scheduled a date for him to perform the work on a weekday at noon; he was an hour late, which was inconvenient, but not a huge deal. He replaced the spigots, and the work looked good. However, about a week later, I noticed one of the spigots was leaking into the basement at the point where Jim had hooked it up to the pipe in the basement ceiling. Jim came back to look at it, and he insisted that nothing he did would have caused the leak. He then went on to say that he really doesn't prefer to do plumbing (that would have been helpful to know before I asked him to do this job). Despite his defensiveness, to Jim's credit, he did call a plumber friend of his to come repair the leak at no charge to us (P.S. The plumber said that Jim was definitely responsible for the leak).
I wanted to give Jim the benefit of the doubt because he is a nice guy, and because he's a great deal, so I asked him to come back to take care of some old wiring in the basement ceiling (I figured I'd try a non-plumbing job). We agreed to meet on a weekday at 1 o'clock. Of course I took off work to meet him here at the house, and he was a no-show. When I called him to ask if we were still on, he apologized and said he got caught up at another job and forgot about our appointment. That's when I decided to call it quits on him. He's just a little too unprofessional for me to want to work with him on a consistent basis.

Great guy. Very busy man. Very glad he has had to stop work with is.

I highly recommend Jim.  He cam with all the wood pre-cut and painted.  He did all of this at his workshop sparing the time and clean-up required to do it on site.  We were fitting him into a 1 week of owner occupancy on a summer rental.  He came precisely when he said he would and finished on time.  We were very pleased with the quality of the work and will definitely hire him again.  In fact, we've already had him quote a price on another project.  I don't often post reveiws . . . generally only when the service was very good or very poor.  I'm happy to report that in this case it was really great!

The service was performed as promised. He did leave some extra grout mix.

Jim was personable and a straight-shooter. He provided legitimate estimates on a number of projects we were considering but didn't push us to spend money on a project we were not prepared to address right away. I will definitely approach Jim for future jobs at our rental property.

Jim was very professional. I felt comfortable with him in my home even when I had to step away to run errands. He was on time, very thorough, and a pleasure to work with. He did a great job! I would definitely refer him to my friends and family. And I would like to work with him again in the future as well!
