"We had a large pine tree fall in our yard, and it was time to trim the other trees, so we purchased an Angies List deal, $1799 for 8 hours of tree service.  When the arborist came out to assess the work, my husband could readily tell that he knew what he was doing, unlike the last company we had hired.  The crew arrived on the agreed upon date and worked despite rainy weather, until it was too dangerous to continue.  They came back about a week later to finish their 8 hours.  They did a very good job.  We paid an extra $250 to have the stump of the fallen tree ground up.  We still have some trees that the crew was unable to get to during their time, but definitely plan on having them come back.

"I had such a wonderful experience with Jesryn Landscaping. The staff worked tirelessly removing the heavy snow and ice that accumulated on my property. They went above and beyond to make sure I was safe to walk and get out of my driveway. I received superior service using this company to do snow removal, but they are a full service landscaping company that I will be using to help me maintain my yard and other projects around my house. Thank you Julio!!!!! See you in the Spring."

"The tree location was in a corner between my house and a wooden fence. Very challenging, but they did great. No damage to my fence or house. They had to remove part of the fence (with my permission) but returned it to its original location once the job was completed. All the employees worked well together. They communicated well and watched out for one another. Each person obviously took pride in their work. They respected my house and were careful where they stepped and put their tools. The crew also trimmed a large holly tree as it was hanging over my house. It was evenly done and they cleaned up afterward. I will definitely recommend this company to my friends."

Customers say: Quick response

"Carlos came prepared to work on the initial estimate visit to my home. Within 3 hours at my home the tree was removed and the sizable stump was grinded up. He was prompt with taking away the brush and cleaning up behind himself. I would strongly recommend him."

"I had a great experience with this company. They arrived to my home on time. They improved the overall shape of the tree. They cut back branches that were hanging over the gutters on the house and driveway. They cleaned up all the debris. The tree looks great! The service was prompt. I am very pleased with the service that they provided. The price was very reasonable! Quotes from offer providers was much higher."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

If it’s your property, then you can plant a tree near power lines, but it’s not the best idea. Any vegetation that grows within 10 feet or so of power lines will fall under the responsibility of the utility company, and they may trim or remove it as necessary. If you do move forward with your plan, try to choose a smaller ornamental tree, plant it as far away from the power lines as you can, and keep it trimmed to avoid future problems.

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.

Unless there’s some sort of rule in your community’s homeowners’ association that requires you to remove a stump, there’s no law that says you have to take it out. If you’re not wedded to the idea of removing it, there are plenty of ways to get creative with this tree remnant. Using the stump as the medium for a wood carving or turning it into a planter are just two examples of ways to repurpose a tree stump.

How often and long you should water a tree depends on the species and if it is mature or newly planted. The amount of water is also based on the tree's size. A good rule of thumb is approximately 5 gallons per inch of the trunk's diameter.

Adjusting watering to the recommended suggestions for the tree type and weather conditions is vital. For instance, watering trees during a drought is necessary, and you may need to water more frequently than usual.

It depends on the problem, the affected part of the tree, the risk of the pathogen spreading, and the overall health of your tree. Many diseases, fungal infections, and insect infestations can be successfully treated, especially if the issue is only in a few branches. However, if a disease is too widespread, too severe, too easily spread, or in the roots, the tree will likely need to be removed.
