"I hired Wynter services previously for deck repair & staining so when I needed my gutter cleaned and potentially gutter guards I reached out to them. They were quick to respond and scheduled with me right away. I really appreciate that about this company. I did get the gutter guards installed, sealing and cleaned thoroughly. Thankful to find a great company like this one."

"they did an excellent job cleaning my gutters but also had gutter covers which they removed and put back securely something that other companies did not do. They also provided a photo of the gutters when finished, Higher than other estimates but their work reflected their value. Will use them again."

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Shingle granules can be cleaned out of gutters using a small scoop or a hose, depending on the quantity of granules and how much other debris is in your gutters. First, clear your gutters of leaves and other debris. This may remove granules in the gutters if they are mixed in with the debris. Use a plastic scoop to remove larger quantities of granules or a hose with a high-powered nozzle for smaller amounts, and collect and dispose of the granules once they’ve been removed.

It’s recommended that you clean your gutters after a severe storm, however, regular storms don’t raise the same concerns. Look for signs your gutter might need cleaning after a harsh storm. Do you see broken branches and excessive leaves all over your yard? Chances are your gutters caught quite some debris. Also, ensure a few drying days before cleaning your gutters. Dry debris is much easier to clean.

Downspouts channel water from your roof and gutters into the ground following a specific route so water doesn’t accumulate around your house’s foundation. Without a downspout, the standing water will wash away material and disrupt the soil, leading to foundation erosion. The standing water will also form ice around your house during cold weather, causing a safety hazard.

Buried downspouts can freeze during cold weather as cold water runs through them. If you’ve discovered your downspouts are frozen, you can carefully pour hot water down the top of the downspout to defrost them. If that doesn’t work, you may need to dig your downspout back up. Avoid trying to break the ice from the exterior using a hammer as this can cause cracks and damage to your downspout.

To avoid freezing the future, consider adding a heating cable to the exterior, which can adjust heat based on the surrounding temperature.

Yes, you can use a pressure washer to effectively clean debris, dirt, and grime from your gutters, but it must be done with caution to avoid damage. Always use a low-pressure setting, with a recommended range between 1,200 and 1,800 PSI. Excessive pressure can bend or dent aluminum gutters, damage seams, peel paint, or even knock shingles off your roof, potentially leading to leaks and moisture issues. For a safer alternative, consider soft washing or cleaning them by hand. When using a pressure washer, it is safer to use gutter elbow extensions from the ground rather than climbing a ladder, as the force can cause instability. Due to the risks, you may want to hire a licensed and insured contractor for the job.
