"Beautifully. We choose them in 2014 because they were available after a major storm. In 2014, they repaired major damage to several trees and gave us excellent advice about trees on our property. These people are arborists, not merely tree cutters. In 2016, they moved a 10-ft section of decorative block wall away from a large tree. The results were stunning: you would think that the wall had originally been laid in its current location.. In neither case did we get other bids, but I suspect this firm is a bit pricier than many others. Still, I would ask them for a proposal, for you will get a free education that is worth your time."
"We hired them in the summer and in the winter because of the dead tree they missed the first time. They did a good job of getting the dead trees and limbs out, but they trampled multiple small plants that we had just planted and put their equipment on top of our delicate shrubs, even though we asked them not to. They moved our stones and put them on top of our newly planted herbs, destroying part of the herbs. They did replace one plant after I complained."
"We had a large pine tree fall in our yard, and it was time to trim the other trees, so we purchased an Angies List deal, $1799 for 8 hours of tree service. When the arborist came out to assess the work, my husband could readily tell that he knew what he was doing, unlike the last company we had hired. The crew arrived on the agreed upon date and worked despite rainy weather, until it was too dangerous to continue. They came back about a week later to finish their 8 hours. They did a very good job. We paid an extra $250 to have the stump of the fallen tree ground up. We still have some trees that the crew was unable to get to during their time, but definitely plan on having them come back. "
"Beautifully!!! I found Axcobar Tree Services on Angies list and they had the very best reviews. They arrived quickly, They knocked on my neighbors door to explain what they would need to do since the majority of the tree had fallen across two fences and into my neighbors yard. They were completely professional and they. worked quickly , non stop, until the job had been completed. They cleaned up both my yard and my neighbors yard perfectly without disturbing or damaging the fencing on either side and they removed every last branch and twig from the ground. I could not have been more pleased. They were amazing! They were congenial , informative and worked so efficiently! I couldn’t possibly have asked for more and I thank Axcobar and Angies List ! Both were the very best !!!! If you need this kind of service these are the professionals to call. Their pricing was very, very fair!"
"Jesryn Landscaping did an excellent job. I will refer them to my friends and family. I am totally satisfied with the job they did. Our house looks like a new house. They were very professional and suggested the perfect bushes for the front yard. Thank you"
"I am so pleased with the work performed by Gordon. We contacted him for an estimate on removing a few trees and trim some others in our yard. He contacted us and personally came over to give us an estimate. He knows his trees. He has done this work for 30 years and it's a family business which we love working with small family businesses. We had an ill apple tree - it was not maintained prior to us purchasing the home 8 years ago. We tried to prune it, figure out what ailed it. A number of arborists (other estimate providers) agreed that it was beyond hope and to remove it. We also removed a smaller apple tree (for pollination). We have mimosas which are the weed of trees. I love them for their blooms (they attract butterflies, bees and hummingbirds), but they are so intrusive. Gordon pointed out that one of the mimosas was possible causing an issue with our home due to their roots. We had him remove 2 mimosas and trim a third one (I wanted to keep one for the blooms & bees). What really impressed me was one of the other trees we wanted removed turned out to be a honey locust which Gordon told us was healthy and we should keep it. We did. His price was very fair and reasonable - included the stump removal as well. He was able to come out the following week and complete the job. He told us he would call us sometime the beginning of the week (we were flexible). Gordon called me the day before and asked if the next day was a good day to do the project. Worked for me. He called me in the morning of our appointment to confirm and gave me an estimated time of arrival. He called before the ETA and said he would be delayed and updated his arrival time. They showed up and had the entire job completed in less than 3 hours! These guys were amazing to watch and constantly going. I was impressed. They completely cleaned up the debris - looked even better than it did before they arrived. I highly recommend Gordon! I was completely satisfied with his work, the communication, his knowledge and his professionalism."
"Carlos came prepared to work on the initial estimate visit to my home. Within 3 hours at my home the tree was removed and the sizable stump was grinded up. He was prompt with taking away the brush and cleaning up behind himself. I would strongly recommend him."
"Mr. Lopez’s staff was absolutely awesome! I received an accurate estimate. More importantly, they took 45 minutes to remove two trees. It was methodical. I personally called Mr. Lopez and thanked him for outstanding service."
"I have a lot of trees in my backyard many of which have died over the years. Recently two more died and one other appeared to be dying and I was thinking about calling a tree service. I was in a local car wash in January and Richard, wearing a shirt with his business logo, was there as well. I had seen his trucks in our neighborhood and and asked for his card, but he offered to come over right away. After inspecting my yard, he recommended removing two other trees as well - one was diseased and the other was leaning towards the house. We have had several trees come down over the years due to storms. He gave me a quote for the 5 trees ($2800.00). However, I decided to wait until spring to see if any other trees needed to be removed. I called him in early May and he came out again - I asked about taking a 6th tree down because it was also leaning towards the house. He also noted that a maple in front of my house was having some problems as well and recommended trimming and fertilization (which I have had to do previously over the years). One thing about the county I live in is that if you live within a 1000' feet of the water, you need to get a permit to remove the trees. I have gotten bids from tree services in the past some have told me I did not need a permit, when in fact I did. Richard raised the issue (I did not have to ask) and he took care of getting the permit (there is no cost). It took about a week to obtain. I have a somewhat steep slope down the side of my house to get to my back yard. When his crew came they laid down matting to protect the grass - they use a sort of mini-lift to get the larger cut-up tree trunk parts out. (I used a service a couple of years go who did not use mats and they really tore up the lawn). I was surprised that they were able to remove all 6 trees in a day - they showed up on time and worked until they finished and did a good job cleaning up - even my neighbors were impressed! "
"Mr. Castillo was awesome. He explained everything in detail and made great suggestions to save me additional time and money in the future. They arrived on time and was very professional. The work they performed was outstanding. My home looks amazing."
Licensing requirements for arborists, also known as tree surgeons, vary by state and municipality. Many areas require a license, which often involves specialized education and experience. Even if not mandated, it's wise to hire a licensed professional as they tend to have more experience. Beyond licensing, look for certifications from organizations like the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), as this indicates a higher level of expertise. Certified arborists must typically pass a comprehensive exam. Always confirm that the arborist has a business license and is fully insured to protect yourself from liability. Seeking positive recommendations from local homeowners is also a good step in finding a qualified professional.
Poison oak is similar to poison ivy in that it's in the same family of plants. Poison oak is identifiable by its rounded-off leaves and hairy leaf texture. Tree-climbing varieties live primarily in western states while low-growing poison oak bushes occupy the eastern states. Treat poison oak like poison ivy to get rid of it permanently.
Service costs depend on several factors, including the system's age, type, and size, as well as the complexity of the repair. Labor costs and whether replacement parts are necessary also play a significant role.
Horticulturist is a broad term for any type of plant and soil expert. An arborist, meanwhile, specializes in all aspects of tree care. You should hire an arborist when you need assistance with tree-related tasks, such as pruning large trees, removing trees, diagnosing a sick tree, or emergency tree services. Horticulturists aren’t qualified to handle those types of tasks.
Talking with a septic pro before planting trees near your tank is best to ensure the roots won’t interfere with your septic system. However, there is an easy way to figure out where to plant a tree—but you’ll need to know how tall it can get when it’s fully grown. For instance, if the tree can reach 50 feet, plant it at least 50 feet from your septic system.
