After a decade of requests by past customers, Al Kincaid, a service disabled Vietnam War Veteran and the President of RenVision Kitchen and Baths, decided to open Valor Home Exteriors. His past customers were so impressed with the quality, beauty and affordability of their Kitchen and Bathroom remodels, that they began begging Al to take his expertise into home exteriors. Historically, Kitchen and Bath remodelers are regarded as the experts of the home improvement industry, as these types of projects are far more detailed, extremely labor intensive, and carry a much larger ticket price. Valor Home Exteriors is built on those same principles. With Valor, you get the same attention to detail and customer-first mentality outside of your home that you're used to only getting inside your home. And, with several roofing, window, siding and door options to choose from, we're your one stop shop for all your exterior home improvement needs. Today, Valor Home Exteriors and RenVision Kitchen and Bath are sister companies run by separate management, yet united by the same goal of providing quality home interior and exterior renovations at a reasonable price.

"Valor Roofing and Exteriors installed a new roof on my home just in time for the harsh winter ahead. Valor Roofing is not only super easy to work with, the work was completed in one day. I highly recommend them for your next project. Valor went above and beyond what I expected and the new roof is beautiful! The choice is clear if you have a need because Valor also gives back to our deserving Veterans with The "Raise a Roof" Program. Four times a year a deserving Veteran is selected to receive a new roof at no charge. I highly recommend Valor Roofing!"

We are certified with all major roofing and siding manufactures. We offer excellent warranties on both material and workmanship. "We purchased a new front door and storm door from Arch Exteriors. The Sales person and the quality of the door were good. Our issue was with the service department and the installation crew. The installation crew/manager did a sub-standard job for installation. The door itself was not set in level, there was an obvious gab and then the lock was damaged when they tried to install it. They cut too far back on the inside tile floor and tried to hide it with pieces of shoe molding. The seal at the bottom of the door began to fall off within the first month. We had to fight with the service manager, Byron, to get anything fixed or to show up for appointments he made with us. The service manager, Byron, did not appear to have trained his crew on how to install a door. Our storm door was initially installed with no safety chain, so the first gust of wind tore the door off the hinges and half of the trim off the door frame. But Byron said since it was the wind, nothing can be done. I pointed out the door lacked some pieces to prevent this. When I pay someone to do work, my expectation is that it will be done better than what I could have done. This was not our experience at all. I can not give a good review due to the service/installation department. Gary Hudak"

Lifetime Manufacturer Warranties 10-Year Craftsmanship Guarantee 20-Year No Blame Guarantee Ironclad Low Investment Guarantee 100% Money Back Guarantee Fastest Gutter Installation and Repair GET FREE ESTIMATECONTACT

"Original install of gutters, soffits and downspouts was suspect at first due to "employee" not seeming to be knowledgeable and had his wife as an assistant (she knew nothing). Over time problems appeared as gutters were leaking, soffits were sagging and poor workmanship became apparent. I chose to have them back to install leaf guards with the understanding that all issues from original install would be addressed FIRST. Employee ("estimator") took numerous photos with an ipad which documented all items that required repaired. After 2 no-shows I was informed that estimator "quit and stole the ipad". Leaf guards were installed with sharp edges, bent pieces and look sloppy. Within the past 5 months I have been told numerous stories, excuses and reasons why nothing has been addressed. Employees come and go, owner lies and everything seems in disarray. I am VERY disappointed and sorry that I ever did business with them but I am stuck with them until they honor their contract. Total waste of $10,000."

After more than 20 years in the roofing industry, founders Sal and Eric wanted to build a company that got the job done right. With licences in both home improvement and public adjusting Mars Restoration is a company made of uniquely qualified materials. Certified by all major manufactures, we've seen just about everything that can happen to roofs and we're her to share that experience with you. Mars Restoration brings a higher standard of roofing to Maryland and Northern Virginia.

"I requested quotes through Angie’s List to do a small roof repair. Most companies that called back said the project was too small. Mid-Atlantic Restoration (MARS Restoration) sent a person out to look at the work. He agreed it was too small given the company’s minimum charge. What was nice was he took the time to explain how to repair the issue myself and invited me to call if I had any further questions."

The length of time your siding will last will depend on the siding material and your climate. It’s important to remember that proper routine maintenance, like twice-a-year cleaning, is vital to help extend the longevity of your siding and to avoid replacement before its expected lifetime ends.

  • Vinyl, aluminum, and wood siding lasts 20 to 40 years

  • Fiber cement siding lasts around 50 years

  • Brick and stone veneer siding lasts at least 100 years

Vinyl siding has a limited lifetime warranty from the manufacturer against cracking and fading. Realistically, 25 to 30 years is the lifespan.

Siding repair costs $870 for an average homeowner. This cost could be as little as $75 or as much as $16,000, depending on your existing siding material, repair type, and damage level. For example, for basic siding repair, you can expect to pay between $2 and $16 per square foot for materials and labor. However, if you have extensive damage or for more expensive materials like stucco, that price jumps to $4 to $50 per square foot.

There is a difference between repairing/partial replacement and a complete installation. A repair service call for vinyl siding is at least $300.00. The more material that needs to be purchased for partial replacement, the higher the cost. The average cost for a complete installation of vinyl siding and soffit is $17k to $22K depending on the size and grade of materials.

There are certain circumstances where your homeowners insurance might cover the expense of siding repair. If you have siding damage due to extreme weather, a natural disaster, a fire, or a hail storm, your policy might fully or partially pay for the repair or replacement cost. However, most policies will not help pay for repairs due to general wear and tear. It’s best to review your homeowners insurance policy for full details on what may be covered.

In certain situations, your homeowners insurance may cover the cost of siding repairs or replacement. If your siding is damaged by extreme weather conditions, a natural disaster, a fire, or a hailstorm, your insurance policy could pay for some or all of the repair or replacement costs. This coverage can be crucial, as severe weather events and disasters can cause significant damage to your home.

However, it’s important to note that most homeowners insurance policies will not cover repairs due to general wear and tear or normal aging of materials. For instance, fading, cracking, or rotting caused by prolonged exposure to the elements is typically considered a maintenance issue and is not eligible for reimbursement.

To fully understand what’s covered, it’s crucial to review your homeowners insurance policy in detail. Pay close attention to exclusions, specific types of coverage for exterior damage, and the conditions under which you can file a claim for siding repair or replacement. It’s also a good idea to consult with your insurance provider to get a clear explanation of your coverage and how to maximize the benefits available to you.

When dealing with siding damage and potential insurance claims, it’s equally important to work with an experienced contractor who can guide you through the evaluation and repair process. A reputable contractor not only helps assess the extent of the damage but can also work alongside your insurance company to ensure that you receive the full benefits of your policy. An experienced contractor will thoroughly inspect the damage and provide an accurate, detailed estimate for repairs. They’ll help document the damage properly, which can be crucial in ensuring your insurance claim is successful. Additionally, they can assist in identifying any potential issues that may have been overlooked, ensuring that you don’t miss out on the coverage that you’re entitled to. Contractors with experience in insurance claims can also serve as advocates, communicating with your insurance provider.

The cost to replace siding for your home is $11,450 on average. But siding replacement can cost up to $40,000 or more, with the largest expense being your chosen material. For example, for a 2,000 square feet house, the average cost of siding materials such as vinyl is between $9,000 and $14,000. Wood siding is a little more expensive, ranging from $16,000 to $26,000. However, for the same size house using brick or stone, that cost jumps to $18,000 to $100,000. When choosing to replace your home’s siding, it’s essential to consider your climate and longevity.

There are several different types of siding available to give you the home exterior of your dreams. Each type of siding has its own cost factors, estimated lifespan, and benefits to fit your needs. Some common siding options include:

  • Vinyl

  • Wood

  • Aluminum

  • Fiber cement

  • Brick

  • Stone and stone veneer

  • Stucco

If you want to stay environmentally friendly, wood siding is natural, recyclable, and renewable. However, if you’re looking for a durable siding option that is more resistant to dents and scratches, brick or stone siding is your best choice.
