"We recently bought a home through the short sale process that needed lots of work. Omar came in person and walked through the house with us and discussed what each project would entail. While we interviewed a number of contractors, Omar's calm and kind personality and thorough attention to detail won us over. It was a fairly sizable investment that we made in fixing up our new house and of course we really wanted it to go well. We decided to focus on painting the main level and repairing the basement:
Basement: When we moved in, we found crickets hopping around in the basement. The water was entering through the door of the walk-up basement. Omar recommended addressing the drainage problem, which was due to the lack of flow at the drain. Rather than replacing the drain, Omar realized that the problem was that the sump pump was not working. In addition to addressing the drainage issue, Omar recommended moving the door up so that it sat a couple of inches higher in the doorway and replacing the rotting wood under the door with concrete. After Omar finished, the basement was waterproofed to the extent that we can now install engineered hardwood in the basement. Omar's people were very thorough in removing drywall around the door about 10 feet in either direction and replacing the rotten insulation. They re-applied dry wall and it looks like new. 
Painting: On the first floor of the house, we have a 2-story family room, kitchen, powder room, and foyer. Everything, other than the powder room are large. The kitchen and powder room featured some truly terrible wallpaper. There is lots of trim to contend with as well. In short, the painted rooms look great. Omar's guys paid great attention to prepping the walls before painting. When they were done, we realized that the great room color that we had chosen was much too intense and clashed with the kitchen color. Omar re-painted the next day and we ended up being extremely happy with how the paint looked. 
Overall, the quality of painting and the craftsmanship of the basement work were both outstanding. We have established a great trust with Omar and, very importantly, his team. Everyone is highly, highly competent and friendly. They do their work on time and well. While Omar's people were painting our house, our new washer/dryer were delivered. The Whirlpool representatives refused to install our washer/dryer because a bird had entered into the exhaust duct and died. One of Omar's guys removed the carcass so that the Whirlpool guy could finish his work. We were so happy with the work that we have since hired Omar for more projects. They can do pretty much anything, as we've learned, and that is really helpful for new homeowners. We enthusiastically recommend Omar's General Contracting!"

"Mr. Lazo arrived to give me an estimate on the date and time we agreed to. He walked through and observed the house and wrote an estimate on the spot that was for an amount that was exactly what I had estimated the work would cost.
On the morning they were to start work, a large crew arrived on time and began removing the wallpaper. They removed the wallpaper from the entire house in one day! It would have taken us weeks if not months, to complete the job ourselves.
The crew then began the painting process. They put two base coats followed by two coats of paint on all the walls. I could not find any mistakes when they were finished. They cleaned up thoroughly when they were done. I can not say how pleased I am with the professional job they did. I am thoroughly satisfied. "Robert was punctual and attentive before the job started, repeatedly contacting me (I found him through ServiceMagic before he joined Angie's List).   His bid was the lowest of three, and his availability and eagerness convinced me to go with him.  I give him an A for cost & punctuality.

I think we saw him once more during a three-day painting, and he did not return to respond to our final touch-up issues.  I had to spend about another 6-8 hours finishing drywall cracks, resanding places where they removed chair-rail wallpaper accent, and had to finish paining missed spots (about 10 sq. ft scattered over the house).   I had to buy a new electrical wall outlet plate, as one was missing & not replaced.   What gauled me the most was that he didn't come to our home to "see for himself" what our issues were.  If the quote was off (he claimed to need 10% more to complete), perhaps he should have visited at the END of the job to make sure his workers didn't leave something behind.  Hence a D for professionalism.

The paint quality is such that if I try to wipe a food stain off the kitchen paint, it rubs off the paint.  I have used higher quality paint in the past that does not require much maintenance in 10 years.   In the past 9 months, I have retouched countless times for every time some walks near a wall.   It seems to me that the rooms painted FIRST have held up much better than the rooms painted LAST.  I believe the quality suffered over the three days in a decreasing fashion.  Hence a C for quality.

My guess (from reading other reviews & talking to his past clients, which I did before signing him up)...he's probably pretty good if he's there.  I don't think that a "prep for resale painting job" was much to his liking & so he didn't care.   I am glad to see him on Angie's List now, because I don't think my report on ServiceMagic has much traction (I filed a report in May 2011).

I give him a C overall.   If my wife had written this review, it'd be nearer to D or F.

"We started our search by looking on Angiest List. We spoke with three contractors prior to meeting with Mega Kitchen & Bath. Mega had  great reviews and we felt the most comfortable with and we couldn?t be happier with the results.
We met with Ibrahim a few times prior to demo.In these meetings we discussed our likes/ disliked about the kitchen, the location of
the sink, stove and cabinets and what we had hoped to gain from the remodel.
Demo:
We needed a complete kitchen remodel, which included demoing a very outdated cabinets, top, sink and floor and removing previously installed wallpaper. The demo went very well and we felt very comfortable with Leon doing most of the demo.
Remodel :
The remodel process went as smoothly as we could imagine.The only hold up we had was due to delays in appliances , backsplash.  Ibrahim was available to answer questions/concerns throughout every step we definitely valued his opinion
throughout the process. Leon did a great job and was very detail oriented.
Finished :
We love our kitchen and would definitely use Mega Kitchen & again !
(We?ve had two questions since the remodel was finished
(disposal , grout questions).Both of these concerns were addressed immediately within 2 days.
