Company owner was born, raised, and resides in Perry Hall. Serving Baltimore and Harford counties, with specialization in residential properties. All consultations are performed by the company owner. All work performed with attention to detail. All calls are returned in a prompt manner-all calls are followed up on.

"It went very well! I needed the drain line extended for about 10 feet after the job was completed. Barry Gladstone, the owner, came out on the next business day and completed the work at no extra charge. I waited for 2 years to write this review to test the drainage system over 2 complete weather cycles. After all of this time, everything is still working very well. I highly recommend Mr. Gladstone and the Outdoor Connection Inc for outside drainage system work."

One of the most peaceful sights you can see as you gaze out your window is a stand of healthy trees, their foliage stirring in the breeze. Keeping trees at their best is hard work, though. At Cutting Edge Tree Experts, we understand what is needed to maintain the health and beauty of your trees, and are committed to finishing every job efficiently and professionally. We'll consult with you to give you the best advice about the care of your trees and we'll see everything through, on time and at a price you can manage. We have a great deal of experience providing tree services of all kinds and we care deeply about leaving our customers happy

"My husband and I are completely satisfied with the highly professional, polite and personable service we received from all “Cutting Edge Tree Experts” staff (office administrator Laura, job estimator Gary, and Joe and his very competent tree removal/pruning team). It was a particularly hot day (8/3/22) and the crew arrived promptly. it was mesmerizing to watch the guys carefully remove a huge, live Bradford pear and 3 dead trees, and also trim back branches of an oak tree overhanging our roof on. They took great care to ensure our property was not damaged, mulched all tree debris on site and removed it, and cleaned up everything beautifully. Before leaving, Joe made sure we were happy with all aspects of their work. Owner Chad and his son also stopped by while the team was working and checked that we were okay with everything. An EXCELLENT company! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Seriously, this DNR-licensed, experienced, extremely reasonably priced company will be our go-to tree service company from now on."

"I had a truly disappointing experience with this company, and I will never recommend them to anyone. There were several aspects of their service that were disrespectful and unprofessional. Firstly, one of the major issues was how they addressed me based on my gender/s**. Instead of using my actual name as listed on the contract, the technician referred to me as "woman" and even went so far as to call me "Queen" with sarcastic hand gestures. This behavior was not only rude but also highly inappropriate. It's evident that they lacked basic respect and sensitivity towards their customers. Furthermore, the technician, Jamal, appeared to be too relaxed and overly familiar with customers he didn't know. I engaged their services for pest control, not for socializing. I expect a professional approach when dealing with such matters. However, Jamal seemed more interested in being friendly than actually addressing the pest issue. When I requested the technician to place poison in the bathroom, which was a covered area according to the contract, I faced unnecessary resistance. It was clear from a simple Google search that rodents are commonly found in bathrooms. Yet, Jamal was hesitant and claimed it was due to concerns about my dog. However, the fact that they had already placed traps and poison in other accessible areas of my home, including the kitchen, living room, bedrooms, and basement, made this excuse seem baseless. The lack of communication and cooperation between the office and the workers was another evident problem. When I escalated the issue to the "owner" (whose actual ownership I couldn't confirm), I received no resolution or even a follow-up call. Instead of addressing the problem of an employee not fulfilling their duties, I was given an unnecessary rundown of rodent behavior. Additionally, there was a contradiction in what Jamal said he could and couldn't do. He claimed they couldn't move heavy items, but then proceeded to move the stove and refrigerator without any apparent problem. This discrepancy only added to the frustration I experienced. As a homeowner, I have every right to monitor the work being done and ask for proper coverage in areas where I've witnessed pest activity. However, Jamal seemed to push back whenever I made these reasonable requests. Overall, the lack of professionalism, disrespectful behavior, and failure to address the issue adequately left me deeply unsatisfied with their service. I hope to find a more reliable and respectful pest control company in the future."

"Davey Tree's communication is a new level of terrible. I organized an initial consultation which included discussion of tree trimming, fertilization and an insect infestation. In the consultation, I was told that I would be shown which branches and limbs would be cut prior to it occurring by use of a laser pointer. The crew arrived and started cutting without talking to me at all. When I asked them about the laser pointer, they denied knowing that anyone in the company used one. They also did not let me know that the cars in front of the house would need to be moved in order to do the work so I could alert my neighbors in advance. After an apology from Davey for all of this miscommunication, I gave them a second chance. I called to ask them to fertilize the tree that we had discussed during our consultation. I scheduled the call for this morning and then got emails saying it was another consultation and the fertilization would be done at another time. The woman who answers their phone needs to be educated in listening to what the customer needs and then make it happen."

"Like many families i entered into a contract to build a pool this summer and decided to do an off contract deck build. I interviewed a few landscaping companies and decided to go with Horizon Outdoor Design. I met with the co-owner Mike and the communication was awesome. He was super thorough with the estimate and explained all phases of the project even when changes needed to be performed throughout the build. His crew came on time when scheduled, were personable and cleaned up each day to keep my neighbors happy. My wife and i are very satisfied with final build and will be enjoying our new backyard for years to come. I highly recommend Horizon Outdoor Design for your next landscaping project. Eugene"

"Contacted via their email/website. Mike S. came out a few days on later Sat. to look at site/trees. Sue E. mailed an estimate one day later. Price was reasonable, compared with 4 others, and estimated detailed exactly what was to be done. I was emphatic about no yard damage/ruts. Job was performed 4 weeks later on a Thurs afternoon after receiving one week notice from Sue E. Crew showed up promptly, actually a few hours early (rain was in forecast for early evening). Full crew of 6-7, one bucket truck, one chipper/shredder truck, pickup with stump grinder, and pickup with mats to protect yard. Went right to work taking down trees. The 30' tree was in open, the 40' tree was overhanging garden shed, so cutter climbed tree and was taking branches off with rope to lower and keep from dropping on shed. Once branches off, tree trunk was dropped and cut into hand-carry sections.. Backyard with limited access, used thick rubber mats to form path from driveway to back of yard. Trunk pieces and wheel barrow loads of debris transported across mats, avoiding any ruts/damage. Then stump grinder (self-propelled, about size of a big lawn tractor) driven across mats and used to grind stumps. Chips hauled away by wheelbarrow. Some large surface roots also ground. Area was left level with some mixture of dirt and chips in hole. The whole time, one worker continually raking grass/debris. Once done, rubber mats removed and grass was raked resulting in very little damage. I mowed the next day with bagger to pickup minimal debris and grass was in good shape with no ruts, etc. Crew cleaned up driveway and made sure everything was in order before leaving. No problems, no damage. Sue E. emailed an invoice that night and I paid it with a credit card on-line. Note: Price listed includes an Angie's List discount. Overall, a good experience and I have recommended Mike S. and Tree Pros to two neighbors. Would definitely use in the future."

Lawn Fertilization and Treatment questions, answered by experts

You can use a fungicide to help control powdery mildew, but you should apply it judiciously as it can damage soil health and persist in the soil. Most of the time, proper watering, surface drying, and limiting shade can control powdery mildew without needing harsher interventions. If you have a repeated problem with powdery mildew, you can also try planting a shade-resistant type of grass that will be less susceptible to the fungus.

Apply fertilizer in early spring and late summer to promote robust growth through the seasons.

Yes, after the lawn is overseeded post-aeration, most of the seed germinates in the aeration holes. This leaves the soil undisturbed while lush and healthy grass will grow in the holes' place. The point of this is to create extra turf density in areas that really need it, such as a large patch of dead grass where a shed used to be.

The best type of fertilizer depends on the type of grass and your desired end result. Generally speaking, slow-release fertilizers are best for grass, as they gradually release nutrients into your soil instead of all at once, which meets the needs of many grass types. However, the tradeoff is that slow-release fertilizers contain phosphorus, which negatively impacts local water quality. Also, some grasses require different formulations to meet the demands of the soil. Test your soil to see how acidic or alkaline it is before choosing a fertilizer.

Bermuda grass may be drought-resistant, but it still needs to be watered once or twice a week. The suggested amount of water Bermuda grass needs varies from season to season. Bermuda grass needs about 1 inch of water a week in summer, fall, and winter; it needs up to ¾ inch in spring.
