"Sam Rafferty responded the same day to my request on HomeAdvisor to widen the front of our driveway and gave us a quote right away. He called the day before to let us know the time of his arrival. The job was finished in one day, as promised. We are going to have Rafferty Paving come back & seal the whole driveway. Rafferty Paving is very dependable, I would recommend them to anyone needing their driveway paved."

Customers say: Quick response

"I hired Murray Contracting to replace the T1-11 wood siding on my 12x16 shed with vinyl siding. They did a great job, they were here on time, worked all day for two days, cleaned up and did it for a solid price. It's good to find young guys with a good work ethic. I'd hire them again anytime I have a project. I now have a brand new 25 year old shed, it looks great, thanks guys !"

"Re designed 2 privacy gates. Exceptional craftsmanship, custom made, perfect, and crew is very respectful of property. Cleaned up everything and the price was unbeatable. I wanted to show off by home advisor.com has to increase image size, instead of quantity of pictures. All my pictures are too large to load. I am glad I went with this contractor and you should too, if you don’t want to get taken advantage of, specially if you are a woman. I only recommend Victors Contracting and nobody else."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Even with regular maintenance, most driveways don’t last much longer than 30 years. Alligator cracking is a clear warning sign that your driveway’s foundation is failing, and cracks that are deep and wide can let water in, causing more damage. Standing water is another red flag. If your driveway doesn’t drain properly, it’s going to degrade slowly. Finally, if you’re seeing dips or uneven patches, that’s a sign the base layer or soil is shifting. If these issues pop up, it’s time to replace your driveway.

If you notice minor cosmetic problems with your driveway, you should seal it. Look out for cracks and holes on the surface, faded asphalt or concrete, and stains from oil and other chemicals. Replacing your driveway may be necessary if you’re dealing with significant problems—¼-inch cracks, large potholes, and puddles from drainage issues. The cost to install an asphalt driveway typically ranges between $4,200 and $9,000, significantly more than resealing. Consider talking to a professional to discuss whether resurfacing your driveway—a midway project between resealing and replacing—is a better option for you.

Yes, you can retrofit an existing driveway, but this usually involves cutting grooves into the driveway, installing the heating elements, then sealing them. While this is much less expensive than typical heated driveway systems, the final appearance could be diminished. Speak with a driveway paving company to confirm which design method is best for you.

New asphalt goes through two stages: drying and curing. Drying typically takes 24 to 72 hours, after which the surface is solid enough for light use like walking or careful driving. While you may be able to park on it after 72 hours, the surface is still soft and should be treated gently. Full curing is a much longer process, taking anywhere from 30 days to a full year for the asphalt to reach maximum strength. During this extended curing period, the asphalt is susceptible to damage from heavy vehicles, sharp objects, and high temperatures. Factors like weather, the specific asphalt mix, and application thickness all influence drying and curing times. For the most accurate timeline and to ensure the longevity of your new asphalt, it is always best to consult with your installation contractor for their specific recommendations.

Yes, a paved or repaved driveway can boost your home's value by increasing its curb appeal and the functionality of your outdoor space. A new driveway can add anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000 to a property's value. An old, crumbling driveway can be a red flag for potential buyers and inspectors.

The amount of value added depends on the materials used, the design, and local market conditions. Concrete is often cited as adding the most value due to its long lifespan, though asphalt may be more desirable in colder climates. The return on investment is greatest when replacing a driveway that is in poor condition; repaving a driveway that is already in good shape will not yield as significant an increase in value.
