"The entire project was handled in a highly professional and timely manner in November 2021. Jon Anderson, the project estimator/manager, provided excellent project progress information and liaison with the two man work team. Sergio and Juan, professional carpenters and painters, did excellent work, protecting our landscaping and thoroughly cleaning up at the end of each work day. We are extremely pleased with the results- a beautiful job! Thank you, Klappenberger and Son team!"

"I am very, very happy with the work JH painting did in my home. I needed to have the interior of my 4 bedroom rental property painted. Mr. Taurino reached out to me immediately after I submitted my request on Angie’s List. He was very professional and patient with me because I had a lot of questions about the job. Pleasantly to my surprise JH under the supervision of Mr. Taurino did a tremendously job. They moved and covered furniture prepped the walls by patching all the dents and holes. I recommend JH Painting (Mr. Taurino) to anyone looking for a true professional painting contractor. Thank you JH Painting Services. God bless you and your crew."

"360 Painting was great to work with. Lorna (the owner) helped me make color decisions and clearly knew what she was talking about related to trim and contrast. The crew worked efficiently and completed the work after a few days of dedicated time (I had the entire exterior of the house painted, including the trim. There was adequate supervision, and very good value for money. I'll be asking them for another quote in the future when I turn my attention inside. I also like the idea of working with a woman-owned business."

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

If you can already see the texture of the existing wallpaper through the layer of paint, then the texture could also come through the new layer of wallpaper. If that’s the aesthetic you want, then proceed. But if you want a smoother surface, you should either strip off the existing paint and wallpaper or hang a layer of liner paper before proceeding.

While you can remove wallpaper yourself, it is a labor-intensive process that risks damaging your walls. Common DIY methods include using a steamer to loosen the adhesive or spraying the paper with a solution of hot water and vinegar or dish soap before scraping. However, steamers can cause irreparable damage if used incorrectly, and the spray-and-scrape method can harm drywall if it gets too wet or you scrape too aggressively. For these reasons, hiring a professional is often the fastest, easiest, and safest option. A pro has the experience and specialized tools to remove wallpaper efficiently without damaging the underlying surface, which saves time and minimizes the prep work needed for your next wall treatment.

Peel-and-stick wallpaper is designed to be removed without damaging walls, making it a good choice for renters or temporary design changes. However, damage to paint or drywall can occur under certain conditions. To prevent issues, the wall surface must be properly prepared before application—it should be clean, smooth, dry, and correctly primed or painted. Applying wallpaper to a freshly painted surface can cause the paint to peel off during removal. Additionally, removing the wallpaper too quickly or aggressively can also cause damage. For best results, always follow the manufacturer's instructions for both application and removal.

Think hard before deciding to German schmear your home’s exterior brickwork. If you do not like the look, you are pretty much stuck with it, as it is impossible to remove this finish the way you can remove paint. You risk damaging the underlying brick if you have to chisel and acid-wash it away. It will also take a very long time, and remnants of the mortar wash will always remain.

The average cost to install or hang wallpaper is around $575 per room or project, with typical prices ranging from $200 to $1,500. Costs can be higher for custom or luxury products. Since project size varies, it's often helpful to estimate labor costs per square foot, which generally fall between $1 and $7, with an average of $4 per square foot. The total cost depends on several factors, including the quality and type of wallpaper, the size and type of the room, and whether old wallpaper must be removed first. Opting for less expensive materials like peel-and-stick wallpaper or choosing to do the installation yourself can lower the overall cost. For the most accurate estimate, it is best to have a professional inspect the space and provide a quote.
