"They designed a kitchen and dining room. They took out a wall to expand the area. Denise does the designing, and Joe does the work. I would definitely recommend them based on their work. They are both excellent. It's been a little over six months since the project, and I am very happy with the results. Excellent price, and an overall wonderful experience. I still get compliments on their work. They really tailored my home to exactly what I needed, and more than I could have expected."

"It was lovely working with them. The moment they walked into the room, they just knew how to design & turn the place around. It made my husband very happy & in a constant brag mood after the transformation of his new office. They knew what will fit his personality and it was spot on."

"AES was a pleasure to work with from the beginning consultation to the completion of the project. I liked the fact that we were able to select items from anywhere and not confined to limited choices as with some companies. I was able to design the bathroom exactly as I wanted as the allowances allowed me the flexibility to be creative. The tile installer was a perfectionist and his attention to detail is reflected in his work. We are thrilled with the finished master bath and are happy with our selection of AES as our remodeler."

"When we decided to remodel the kitchen and floor of our home, a main consideration was whether to work with an interior designer or not. The main reason was the budget. We had worked with an interior designer in the past and were familiar with the process. The key for us was to find someone that would understand the vision and concept of our plans and have the ability to integrate these plans with their professional expertise and resources. After researching and interviewing various interior designers and we finally found Renee MiChelle of Ravenous 4 Design By Design Studio. We liked Renee MiChelle because she listened carefully and understood what we were trying to accomplish while being and personable and genuine. She was sensitive to our needs and was able to translate our ideas and budget into a realistic plan. The saying â you donâ t know what you donâ t knowâ describes what a person begins to realize when encountering the extent and complexity of an design project performed correctly. Murphyâ s Law figures greatly in these situations also. We realized that having a person we could trust and depend on was key to the overall success. After lengthy discussions with Renee MiChelle regarding everything involved in the project, we realized that Renee MiChelle of Ravenous 4 Design By Design Studio was the one for us. Renee MiChelle has excellent taste and resources. She knows where to find the right products and materials. She led us in new and different directions that provided beautiful solutions. The skilled workers and subcontractors she works with are first rate and artists at their craft. They are a pleasure to work with. Renee MiChelle of Ravenous 4 Design By Design Studio takes great care to select only the best. She has great rapport with them and they are very responsive to her. When issues and questions come up, as they always will in a job like this, Renee MiChelle is very accessible and addresses them quickly and effectively. She becomes your ally, always checking with you to make sure you are happy and satisfied with the progress and the product as well as staying within budget. Anyone that has embarked on similar projects with contractors can attest to the need for a qualified professional when things donâ t go as expected or proposed. As a business, Renee MiChelle of Ravenous 4 Design By Design Studio is well organized and runs very efficiently. Her website provides a dashboard where you can easily review and pay open invoices and keep track of the expenses among other things. Overall we are extremely pleased with the service and expertise provided by Renee MiChelle of Ravenous 4 Design By Design Studio. We would recommend Renee MiChelle without the slightest hesitation. The kitchen was totally transformed into a beautiful space, taking on the look of something 2-3 times the actual cost. The craftsmanship along with Renee MiChelle choice of design, materials and color schemes are outstanding. The floor design and layout was also transformational giving the home a completely new and refreshing look. The porcelain wood like tile Renee MiChelle helped pick required an excellent installer and she had just the right one. Everyone that has seen the floor has commented on the beauty of the shape and color, in addition to asking if it is real wood. Renee MiChelle is a truly gifted interior designer who has helped us realize our aspirations and has exceeded all of our expectations while at the same time helping us stay on budget. We truly could not have accomplished this without Renee MiChelle's help. So in retrospect, we view the hiring of an interior designer such as R4DBYD, an investment rather than an additional cost."

"He is the fourth designer that I interviewed and was the only one that understood my vision and got me, and that is why I worked with him. He has given me peace of mind with my project, and I'm still working with him and it has been a blessing for me!"

"I came to Melissa & Bluehouse a number of years ago as I couldn't visualize the layout to accomplish my goals in what began as a kitchen remodel. Melissa's impeccable handling of my project from the word "go" is nothing but an understatement! Each and every detail I listed from want's & desires to fears & concerns were addressed. Living up to her word every step of the way, Melissa addressed my list while pointing out elements I hadn't thought of. She was aware of my limits and not only kept her bottom line under control, but she didn't design anything out of our budget. Considering we were on track to break ground in the spring of 2020, when Covid hit & supply chains derailed our start, Melissa was poised to do whatever needed to be done. In the end, rising costs & limited supply led us to delay construction until Jan. '23. As a TV news producer, I'm a tough cookie, and yet when I had questions, Melissa answered them honestly and often with visuals to help me understand what I needed to learn. I appreciated her teamwork attitude when working with the Structural Engineers let alone my amazing contractor! Melissa's perfectionism is the reason not one single measurement needed to be modified in what became not just a kitchen remodel, but a 1st-floor remake with our addition going both upstairs & down. When you consider who to hire, consider this, as a newswoman, I interview 3 people for every job, I don't cut corners and nothing gets swept under the rug. Melissa is THAT kind of pro! She is going to do right by you, because she knows what is at stake, and she is only going to put her name on something she stands behind. For that, and a million little reasons, without question, if I had another project, I'd hire her in a heartbeat!"

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

While the terms 'interior designer' and 'interior decorator' are often used interchangeably, they represent distinct professions with some overlapping work. The primary difference lies in the scope of their projects.

An interior decorator focuses on the aesthetics of a space, making less permanent decisions about decor. Their work involves selecting colors, fabrics, furniture, wall art, paint, and other finishes to 'dress' a room and enhance its style.

An interior designer has a broader scope that includes a decorator's aesthetic focus but also extends to the structural and functional aspects of a space. Designers are qualified to plan layouts, make structural changes, and manage overall functionality. They handle permanent decisions regarding fixtures like cabinets and bathtubs, establish floor plans, and may hire contractors.

Due to the technical skills required, interior designers typically have formal education, certification, and may hold a license, which can result in higher fees. As a general rule, it is best to hire an interior designer for major remodeling projects and an interior decorator for projects focused on establishing or refreshing a home's interior style.

A certified kitchen designer (or CKD) is a certification given by the National Kitchen and Bath Association. These designers have completed the necessary hours of training and education to specialize in kitchens, and therefore understand the wide variety of project needs (like plumbing, electrical, appliances, and more). Most pros will make their certifications known on their website, but you can also ask during your search for a local kitchen designer.

Yes, professionals will offer tailored solutions to fit architectural and personal style preferences.

British architect John Nash is credited with creating the Italianate style of architecture. The style was further popularized in the U.S. by landscape architect Andrew Jackson Downing and architect Calvert Vaux. The style spread across the U.S. due to Downing’s popular book on the style and the availability of plans and materials due to the mass production of the Industrial Revolution.

Universal design is a design concept that states that products, spaces, and general environments are designed to be used by everyone, with an emphasis on accessibility for those with limited mobility or other special needs.
