"Axcobar should be your first choice for tree cutting and removal. Their service was outstanding in every way. Melvin responded in person to my emergency call after the recent tornado (microburst) in Olney took out six of the large, old trees in my yard. One of the trees was hanging over the deck and threatened to create more damage to my house if not skillfully removed. Axcobar showed up with a fabulous crew and a couple of trucks with shredders attached. These folks worked tirelessly over two days to cut, shred, and remove the trees that fell and the ones that were damaged and still standing. In addition, they removed all of the broken branches, twigs, and assorted debris in the area. We can not say enough good things about this service. Oh btw, their pricing was extremely competitive and fair. We will use them again and highly recommend them to others."

"I put a request out and Gordon responded in minutes. He provided a free estimate the same day and was able to complete the job within 36 hours of calling him to book. I am very pleased with the results! Gordon trimmed tree limbs away from the roof, cut branches off of our magnolia tree that were damaged during the recent snow storm. Additionally, he a beautiful job pruning our Holly and other bushes at the front of the house. The icing on the cake was he was able to offer his services for half the price of two other competitors. I am very satisfied and highly recommend Gordon!"

"We had a very good experience with the New Creation Tree Service. Edwin Contreras owner of the Service and his crew did a good job in cutting the dead tree plus the pruning of another tree in our yard. In addition, Mr. Contreras was professional, knowledgeable, easy to communicate with and help with other issues regarding yard work. We greatly appreciate his practical and honest recommendations about pruning more trees in our yard. His reasonable charge, good tree service, knowledge willingness to help and over-all great customer service are ingredients for us to request for help in the future. Thank you very much. G. "Hometown Tree experts were excellent from the start to end. Scheduling the free estimate to the actual removal was very smooth. Our guy who completed the estimate (Mark maybe?), Brandi at the office and the staff who removed the tree were exceptionally efficient and responsive. The quality of work and customer service were top notch."

"The workers were fabulous and took down my tree in about 5 cuts. Then the stump removal worker ground down the rest and cleaned up perfectly. Danny, the young man who gave me the estimate and started off the whole shebang was great. I definetely recommend GreenTree."

Tree Service FAQs, answered by experts

Dead tree branches should be removed, because they can cause the tree to lose nutrients. They can also make the tree more susceptible to disease and pests. Removing dead and diseased branches can help the tree recover and increase the odds of saving a dying tree. Make sure to prune the tree correctly to avoid damaging it further.

Tree borers are difficult to control and remove once they make a home in your tree. However, with patience and determination, some methods can slow the damage or even eliminate the pests. But, once the damage is too much for the tree to handle, the only solution becomes removing it. Talk to a tree specialist early for the best chance at saving your tree.

Trimming a tree can take anywhere from just two hours to a full day, depending on the age of the tree, the number of trees, and the species. Young trees are generally easier to trim, as their branches are often thinner in diameter and easier to reach compared to mature trees. They also tend to be healthier. If you haven’t trimmed your trees before or it’s been a while, the process could take even longer.

The best time to cut down a tree is during its dormant season, typically in winter or early spring, after all the leaves have fallen. Removing a tree during this period is advantageous for several reasons. Frozen ground helps secure the tree stump, protects the surrounding landscape from damage, and reduces the risk of the tree falling in an unintended direction. With the leaves gone, there is less risk of the tree's foliage getting tangled with other trees. Additionally, since this is often a slower season for tree services, you may be able to hire a professional at a lower rate. This dormant period is also the best time for tree trimming.

The exact answer to this question depends on which region of the country you’re talking about, but according to various tree counts, some of the most common types of trees in the United States include red maple, Douglas fir, quaking aspen, loblolly pine, and sweetgum.
