"We've had a lot of tree work done over the years. Gordon and his crew were by far the best service we've ever used. They took down a mammoth tree, pruned others, and cleaned everything up--at a reasonable cost. We recommend him with no reservations!"

"I was overall really happy with AAA Tree Service. Scheduling was easy and Greg was extremely responsive and and overall great communicator; very professional. On the day of the scheduled job, the crew arrived on time, worked fast, and did a great job. One minor issue resulted from some minor damage to my vinyl siding on the side of my house, however, Greg sent someone out to replace that siding within 48 hours without any questions or excuses, which I really appreciated. Overall, due to Greg's professionalism and responsiveness, I would, and probably will, hire them again in the future."

"Hometown Tree Experts provided a first class service from start to finish. They removed several large trees on our properties for a great price and did an excellent job. All tree limbs, trunks, branches (etc) were dropped with precision (very talented crew). We would hire them again and we plan to provide referrals to our neighbors."

"Axcobar should be your first choice for tree cutting and removal. Their service was outstanding in every way. Melvin responded in person to my emergency call after the recent tornado (microburst) in Olney took out six of the large, old trees in my yard. One of the trees was hanging over the deck and threatened to create more damage to my house if not skillfully removed. Axcobar showed up with a fabulous crew and a couple of trucks with shredders attached. These folks worked tirelessly over two days to cut, shred, and remove the trees that fell and the ones that were damaged and still standing. In addition, they removed all of the broken branches, twigs, and assorted debris in the area. We can not say enough good things about this service. Oh btw, their pricing was extremely competitive and fair. We will use them again and highly recommend them to others."

"I received professional quality service (quick response time and precise execution of job). Mr. Aguilar came within 40 minutes of my post on Angi to assess the job. He gave me a quote, which I accepted, and arrived ahead of the designated time to do the job. The tree to be felled was close to the house and had delicate shrubbery and overhead wires nearby. This was no job for an amateur such as myself, so I am happy I called professionals. I will recommend JNO Contractors, LLC to others."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Once you confirm a tree is dead, you should remove it. Dead trees eventually fall, and larger trees in particular can cause damage to rooftops, fencing, flowers, and other objects. As we mentioned, letting decayed wood stay in your yard also invites risks to the surrounding landscaping and vegetation.

On average, tree removal costs around $750, with a typical range between $200 and $2,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the tree's height, trunk diameter, species, and overall health. Accessibility is also a key factor; costs will be higher if the tree is in a hard-to-reach area or located near structures like power lines or your home. Additional costs may apply for services such as stump removal (which can add $100 to $150), log-splitting, debris cleanup, and obtaining necessary permits. It is also customary to tip the professional, usually between $20 and $100.

It takes anywhere from three to seven years for a stump to decompose on its own. This timeframe can depend on the kind of tree and your climate. The lower to the ground the stump is, the faster it rots. If you kill a tree stump with salt, boiling water, herbicide, light deprivation, or burning, the tree stump decomposes faster.

Planting trees far enough from your foundation will protect your home from root damage, but if you’re dealing with existing trees, you can still guard against roots. Root barriers form a physical boundary that will prevent roots from encroaching on your foundation and can help save you from expensive foundation repair costs.

It depends on the type of tree. Typically, late spring on the cusp of winter is ideal for trees about to emerge from dormancy and produce new buds. That said, late fall is ideal for certain deciduous trees prone to bleeding sap. Avoid trimming trees in early spring, when they’re prone to disease.
