"When we decided to renovate our kitchen, one big decision was replacing our dated corian countertops. After searching numerous granite/marble facilities in the area, I always went back to Pyramid Granite for my top choice. They had an incredible selection and helpful consulting staff. The slab was beautiful and all the measuring, customized cutting and installation was perfectly done. Can’t be happier! Love being in my gorgeous kitchen. Thank you!"

"At first, I reached out to Elegant only to compare prices with other companies. Joe promptly returned my call and thoroughly answered my questions. After contacting several other companies, it was clear Elegant was the best price. When Joe came for the in-home estimate with Joe, he was prompt and quite thorough. He sent the estimate that night and I responded back with questions about things that were unclear. It took a few days to hear back. They subcontracted our work to Noe Ark Flooring, who did a great job! They went above and beyond what was required to give us beautiful floors."

"Omar's did a great job replacing the ceiling on our three-season porch when it began to buckle. They offered an option to patch the damaged part or to replace the whole thing; we went with the latter. It took two days; the ceiling was done the first day, and then they took the second to paint. I was pleased with their work and would happily hire them again."

"We have a fairly large master bath (15' x 15') that was all builder grade. We worked with Armagan to pick out all the new title, granite, vanity, etc. However want I really liked was the flexibility for us to purchase our own hardware, mirrors, lighting, tub, etc. Armagan worked with us to completely design the new layout but was not overbearing. We are 95% complete (waiting for shower glass) but I am pleased with the work of Abraham and team. We did have some bumps including a toilet leak but Armagan had the team fix all issues. We like their work so much, we have asked them to bid on upgrade of my kids bathrooms."

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

There are three main downsides to quartzite: the cost, the porosity, and the weight. As a natural stone, there’s a level of scarcity that can drive up the price of certain types of quartzite. Even more common varieties are less affordable than synthetic materials like laminate and other natural stones like granite.

You’ll also have to reseal your quartzite countertop annually to combat the natural porosity and reinforce your cabinets to account for the added weight.

No, you should not put a hot pan or pot directly on a quartz countertop. While quartz is generally heat-resistant, the resin binders used in its manufacturing are sensitive to extreme heat from items exceeding 150 degrees Fahrenheit. This can damage the resin, leading to discoloration, burns, or even cracking. To prevent permanent damage, always use trivets or hot pads for hot cookware.

Sintered stone and quartz are both low-maintenance materials resistant to water damage and scratching. However, quartz can be damaged by temperatures over 150°F, while sintered stone is heat-resistant up to 300°F. Both materials are comparable in cost, so ultimately, the decision will hinge on your preferences.

While no countertop material is truly “heatproof,” granite countertops are extremely resistant to high temperatures. Some types of granite can withstand temperatures up to 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit. However, we don’t recommend placing hot pots and pans directly on granite countertops. Even if it doesn’t scar the granite, it may damage the sealant.

Extensive chips and cracks may require a full replacement of the countertop. The cost to install a new countertop is around $3,100 on average. But, if the damaged area is relatively small, you may want to consider repairing it yourself or calling in a qualified professional. Depending on the material, some epoxy and sandpaper may do the trick. Or you can consider painting laminate countertops or refinishing butcher block countertops.
