"Wonderful! They installed a sump pump in my old house. The man who came out (Jorge) was polite, professional, and cleaned up after himself. I was very satisfied with the work. I moved recently, and the new basement smelled damp, so I contacted Basement Systems again. I got their SaniDry, which is quiet and energy -efficient. It drains right into the sump pump, so I don't have to empty it. The basement now feels dry and comfortable, and everything I store down there in cardboard boxes smells clean. All of my dealings with the company have been very good."

"I had water coming into my basement from somewhere and I figured it was from a glass block window. Basement Systems USA came out and looked in the basement and at the window from the outside to discover there was no drain in the well and the water was filling up the well from underneath because the water had no where to go and then found its way into the basement. They drilled a hole from the the window into the basement. They attached a channel to the wall and installed a french drain leading to the sump pump. A new, stronger sump pump was installed. Luckily, I got the work done before the rain came the next day. The next day it rained and the basement was dry. Morgan explained the system to me after all the work was done. The work was done neatly and cleanly."

"Extremely excellent.. The service was good since 2008. They did excellent work. They repair the problem issue by installing a inside french drain and a sump pump. Which correct the problem at the time. The costing was reasonable and except able. And in addition to that courtesy and professional. And very clean after finishing work."

"Worked with them to install french drain and sump in basement of home we recently purchased. There was an existing sump, but no french drain, and the location of the existing sump was inconvenient. Relocated sump to a corner where it was not in the way. Work was fast and efficient."

"The foreman, Roberto and his crew, Alun and Jose did an excellent job installing push piers to stabilize our foundation. They did a super job of resolving an unexpected problem that was encountered with a footer under a slab portion of the foundation. These men are a valuable asset to your company."

"The work was excellent, however what was described and what was done differed. The maximum was described as the most extensive repairs. The repair entailed minimal digging and just the sealing of the main drain. It just 3.5 feet below the ground. One shrub was removed. They did not dig to the foyndation since they felt they found the issue. They did not reduce the price and that disturbed me since it was discussed."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

The difference between an ejector pump and a sump pump lies in their purpose and design—an ejector pump functions to remove liquid gray water and soft solid sewage waste from your home. If you have a laundry room or bathroom in your basement, an ejector pump for your sewage tank prevents sewage from backing up in your washing machine or bathroom’s drains.

A sump pump is designed to remove excess groundwater that may enter your home, either due to flooding or periods of heavy rain.

It depends on what caused your basement flooding, the extent of the problem, and the risk of the flood continuing. If your flood is coming from a septic system or sewer line, breathing in the sewer gasses can be dangerous, so you should vacate. If the flood occurs from an ongoing natural disaster, relocating to a safe area might be wise. If you just have a plumbing leak or rainwater coming in, you can likely stay in the house if you don’t have electrical lines down there, but make sure you call in professionals to fix the issue immediately.

If your basement often leaks after heavy rain, it’s probably caused by hydrostatic pressure. When the ground is saturated with water, it can put pressure on the exterior of your home’s foundation, causing cracks in the basement wall and pushing water through any existing weak spots. Over time, hydrostatic pressure can cause structural damage to your home.

A small sump pump running infrequently uses an average of 10 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month. The average cost for electricity is $0.171 per kWh. The size and use frequency affect how much electricity it uses. Sump pumps average one-third to one horsepower (hp) motors. One hp is equal to 745.7 watts. Watts multiplied by the time your pump is running divided by 1,000 equals your average kWh. Multiply kWh by your average cost of electricity. In areas with high rain or a marsh basin, the average cost can be as high as $15-$25 a month.

There are a few possible sump pump drainage locations, including a neighborhood storm drain, into a creek or pond, or underground. Don’t let your sump pump water go into your sewer or septic system. Ideally, your drainage spot should be on a downhill slope that’s at least 10 to 20 feet away from your home’s foundation. Before choosing a location, check your local codes and regulations.
