The total experience from the first phone call to schedule our demonstration, to Dorothy coming to our home to show products, was absolutely incredibly easy and professional. Started at 9am and all was finished and beautiful by 2:30 that day. Even the time that the water was turned off was very short, I cannot say enough about the experience. "We selected DMV based on our previous experience with the company starting with Rolando who successfully remodeled our kitchen and 3 baths back in 2015 and with Javier in remodeling of 1 bathroom, construction of an outdoor shed, and finally remodeling of our 1st and 2nd floors. The construction area consisted of two sides of the basement--the “finished” side for an office *** guest room plus a small hallway; the other, a larger “unfinished” side for storage. The project began by moving everything in the small hallway to other parts of the house. Then they cleared what would be the “finished” side of the basement moving the sofa bed, several desks, 3 bookcases, a couple office chairs, a table, several bookcases, 7 file cabinets, clothes and other items from the closet, and numerous boxes of books plus files removed from file cabinets to the other side of the basement or, when necessary, to other parts of the house, outdoor shed, and garage while they worked on the “finished” side. Some of the items in the “unfinished” side had to be moved out of the basement to another part of the house to make room for heavier items that could not be lugged upstairs without breaking someone’s back. Two more file cabinets that I had not yet emptied they moved on a dolly to the other side of the basement. I regretted having emptied the 7 other file cabinets so that even more boxes with file contents had to be carefully labelled and moved to the other side. That was my fault! It was a complex undertaking since we were adding to what was already stored on the “unfinished” side, but the men were creative, cooperative, and experienced in meeting the challenge with us. The work began on the “finished” side and small hallway with demolition of the existing ceiling and lighting. Once the men cleaned up that mess they installed electrical cabling, wood, and drywall for the ceiling. They repaired the 2 feet of drywall around the bottom perimeter of the wall. Once the basic structure was in place they applied 2 coats of plaster to the walls and ceiling, and then sanded them. They taped the corners and joints. Following our selection of paint, they applied primer on the walls and ceiling, sanded, and then applied 2 coats of off-white paint to the walls and ceiling. What a beautiful transformation of the walls! To prepare for the installation of the luxury vinyl tile floor planks on the “finished” side and hallway they evened out the existing concrete with additional concrete. They lay the beautiful, brownish-gray floor planks on the concrete floor. Javier convinced us that the brownish-gray would be a good selection and he was right. Then the men installed baseboards and shoe molding around walls of the finished side and hallway. At some point they installed 8 recessed lights. What amazing acoustics in that room while it was still empty! In the latter phase of the “finished” side Alvaro repaired, sanded, and painted the stairway and lay the luxury vinyl tile floor planks to the stairs. To match the stairway, he sanded and stained the stair railing to match the stairs. He also repaired, sanded, and painted the walls off-white on either side of the stairway and the ceiling. Finally he painted the door separating the basement and kitchen. What a major transformation of that stairway! We were so pleased with the results! In the next phase of the project we transferred our attention to the “unfinished” side. After covering all the furniture, boxes, etc. with plastic they installed electrical cabling, wood, and dry wall on the ceiling. Then they applied plaster to the ceiling, sanded it, primed and painted it with 2 coats of paint. Then they installed 11 recessed lights to what previously was a deep, dark dungeon. When that major work was completed and the plastic removed, they vacuumed the area as best they could and moved the furniture and some of the boxes and bins back to the “finished” side. After a gap in construction Alvaro installed four heavy-duty, industrial-welded, steel storage units with adjustable shelves along the walls of the “unfinished” side of the basement so we didn’t have to worry about flimsy shelves collapsing with the weight of heavy boxes and plastic bins. Gradually we filled the shelves and file cabinets, moving some items temporarily stored in other parts of the house back to the basement. Alvaro (?) also installed a steel storage unit at one end of the garage to hold our daughters’ heavy boxes, some of which had been moved out of the basement and were collapsing with the weight of far too many boxes stacked on each other. Thanks to Javier for that creative solution to the problem! The DMV workmen did some additional jobs not directly related to repairing and painting walls and ceilings, installing hardwood/vinyl floors and lighting in the basement. Once the major work was done in the basement they went upstairs and moved some of the remaining displaced items to other parts of the house, garage, and shed. They installed a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector, secured 2 bookcases to the wall, installed 3 transition pieces on the floors beneath the doorways, and installed 3 dimmers for the lights. After completing most of the work in the basement they performed extra tasks not listed in the contract upstairs, tasks like tightening the screws in a door that would not close, installing a toilet seat, repairing a knob on one of our utility closets, and moving an office chair in the family room to the garage for goodwill. Fabio installed 4 internet connections: 2 in the basement, 1 in the family room on the ground floor, and 1 in the den on the second floor. Finally my husband and I could use our computers! Then when all was said and done the men installed dimmers swept and cleaned the two sides of the basement and hallway one last time. Bon trabajo! The quality of materials and workmanship on the basement remodeling was exceptional as we have come to expect of this company. And because we are an elderly couple we really appreciated the extra help in moving things around in the basement and around the house. The workmen were reliable, polite, honest, skilled, hardworking, and flexible in adjusting to additions and changes from time to time. They always took extra care to clean up at the end of the day and to pick up trash as it was collected. The price seems reasonable given the extra work not previously budgeted. Javier was great at planning, communicating, and allowing for extra time when we needed it to make decisions on where to put things or to do some of the moving ourselves, but he could certainly have benefited from having a right-hand man to assist him when he was not immediately available. We would highly recommend DMV for home remodeling projects. "WaterStone did a complete remodel of our smallish master bathroom (9' by 9'). They were responsible for all aspects of the project including design, permitting, materials and construction. We had an initial budgetary estimate of 30 to 35K for what we wanted. Other companies either told us the design we wanted (which required relocating plumbing and electrical) was either infeasible or way above our budgetary estimate. Jeff came in, listened to what we wanted and gave us design options that met our needs. After a couple of iterations, we settled on a design and Jeff provided an estimate from $32K to 38K depending on our material selections. He gave us a range of material allowances that were actually reasonable. Ultimately, the contract was executed for just under 38K - no overruns!. Jeff and Deanna helped us make the material selections while keeping us within budget (we went over some allowances and under others). We did not have to make any compromises on our vision for the bathroom. The project was finished in 8 weeks vice the proposed 5 to 6 weeks due mainly to a more difficult than expected demolition and the lead time for the shower glass. Jeff (owner), Deanna (designer), Jake (project manager) and Javier (on site project lead) were personable and easy to deal with. As usual with a project of this magnitude, there were a couple of hiccups along the way. The measure of a contractor is not the issues they have but how quickly and effectively they resolve the issues and WaterStone was topnotch in that regard. Problems were addressed and fixed right away. Two stories that demonstrate why we liked working with WaterStone so much: 1) we wanted quartz countertops but bathroom vanities usually require much less than a full slab. When their normal stone supplier would only quote a full slab which was way over our budget, WaterStone called several other suppliers and found one with a remnant that would meet our needs and would not break the budget; and 2) the glass supplier raised some issues about our proposed design for the shower glass and we started down the path of an alternate, much more expensive design. When Jeff heard, he came over immediately and talked us off the ledge about our concerns with the original design, ultimately saving us from a costly design change. WaterStone designed and built a bathroom that matched our vision for the price we were quoted. We've been using the bathroom for about 6 months now with no problems or issues. The workmanship from the crafts (plumbing, electrical, tile, glass) is superb. They respected our house and minimized any disruption (we slept in our master bedroom throughout the renovation). WaterStone is a gem."

Short story long, I knew I was going to hire Allen over the other contractors I had talked to just from the estimate. Allen came by and took measurements, started writing up general designs while I was there, and talked through the details of the project with me. I have worked on several DIY projects with my dad and this was the same process we would take if we were doing it. Estimate aside, the work was well done and I am really happy with the result. Allen did the work himself with one other person and they were able to finish within their timeframe, which they had left a few days space for rain. This isn't like where you talk with a salesperson and then it's a completely different crew doing the work. Overall, highly recommend Allen and Arms Home Improvement. Because this is quality work, it is a bit expensive, but it was no more pricey than other estimates."
