"Bryan rescreened numerous window and sliding glass door screens. He was very professional, prompt and more than competitive on price. I have several other jobs that need to be done and will be using him for them."

"The crew arrived exactly on time.  The removed all nails and filled the holes. Caulked around the windows.  They even removed and put back up my flat screen TV that was mounted on the wall. They painted all the trim and doors in the rooms.  They covered all the floors with drop cloths and did not leave one drop of paint on the floor.  I was extremely pleased with their professionalism and couldn't be happier with the work.  The cost was more than I budgeted for but it was worth it.

"Everything was perfect. I left a voicemail and he called me back within minutes. We discussed my problems and he understood my computer gibberish. He came to my house to pick up the laptop. He notified me that night about the cost of the replacement parts and length of shipping. He then contacted me when my computer was fixed. He delivered it to my house.

"We have a contract that we pay monthly for any plumbing and appliance repair, like a home warranty. The guy came out the second time and told my wife that if they couldn't get it fixed they would buy a new dishwasher. So they rank very highly on my scale.

What I like about them is that they do get the job done, but what I don't like is that you can describe in as much detail on the website what the problem is. But it's kinda hit or miss on whether they are have the necessary parts to fix the particular appliance. They almost always have to do second call or buy a part. So like with our dishwasher, they came out and sort of diagnosed the problem but they had to get the motor and things so you can be another week or 10 days with out the dishwasher. Which is not the end of the world. I understand why they don't do that because it could be expensive to buy the parts for all of the different machines that you are servicing."

"I'm sorry I don't remember who came out, but they did a fantastic job. They did 14 windows inside and out, plus pulled the screens and scrubbed them. They put everything back, were very careful with their ladders, took off their shoes while inside, and even got rid of the dead ladybugs on the foyer window ledge for me. (why do builders put ledges under windows that high up?) They double checked to make sure everything was right before they left. I would definitely recommend them. They did a wonderful job and now I can actually see out my windows again. Thank you Keenwick.

"Whenever I hire painters from Kargmans, they consistently do excellent work regardless of the project type. As with all contractors, on-site communication before, during and after the project is the key to success. Randy and his teammate (apologies, I forgot to write down your name) started this work by doing some extra prep tasks that my husband had not been able to complete. When I pointed out the areas that needed small repairs or sanding, they got to work right away and handled these tasks in a very professional manner. When it turned out that I had gotten the wrong color paint for one of the rooms (which I discovered after they had already started to paint the closet), Randy told me that there were no problems. He would let the closet paint dry and start over again with the replacement color paint. No matter what task I asked them to do, they completed each job with professionalism, courtesy and good humor. I will continue to hire Kargman's painters for each area of my renovation. Over the past three years, they have water-proof painted my basement, sealed new wallboard, painted the kitchen, family area, living room, hallways and now the bedrooms and bath. As long as you communicate clearly verbally (yes, some of the painters speak Spanish and I do not) and with actions, you will get exactly what you need/want/paid for. I highly recommend these professionals."

"The technician did a good job of explaining the materials and technique and was timely with the repair. It was a very cold day and he used materials that were appropriate for the outdoor installation in that weather."

"We purchased a row house that was built in 1903 and the house had many items that needed to be addressed. We were thrilled to find one company that could take care of all the items on our list. Bruce, the owner, was extremely responsive and came out in a timely manner to provide us an estimate. Because so much work needed to be completed, the job was completed in about a week (they would have completed it sooner but it was our schedule that pushed things back). No matter what items we identified that needed to be fixed, Bruce was able to take care of it. For example, we smelled gas permeating in the kitchen even when the oven was not turned on. Bruce checked the gas line to the gas oven/stove and learned that the initial install was not done correctly. He gave us an estimate, went and got the parts, and fixed the gas line connection to the oven. One day I was cleaning the windows and the window got stuck and could not be closed (it was about 20 degrees outside). When I asked Bruce if he could help me fix it (this was not part of the estimate nor was it on either of our radar screens) he quickly identified the problem and closed it (thank goodness)! Bruce will be back out soon to complete a few exterior items that we put on hold until the weather got warmer.
I highly recommend Hunny Do's services and will absolutley hire them again! Try them out, you won't be disappointed.

Screen Repair questions, answered by experts

Window screens are available in several standard sizes. Common dimensions include 24 to 36 inches wide by 36 to 48 inches tall, as well as sizes like 18 by 14 inches and 20 by 20 inches. These often correspond to standard window sizes, such as 2 feet wide by 3 feet tall or 4 feet wide by 6 feet tall. Screens are also sold in replacement rolls to accommodate various dimensions. It is always best to measure your windows for accuracy before a repair or replacement. If your windows are a non-standard size, you will likely need to order custom screens, which can increase the cost. However, a screen does not necessarily have to fit the entire window, so you may be able to use a standard-size screen even if your window is slightly larger.

The average cost to repair a window is about $400, with prices typically ranging from $175 to $1,500. The final cost is influenced by several factors, including:

  • Number of Panes: Single-pane repairs average around $200, double-pane repairs range from $200 to $400, and triple-pane repairs can cost $600 to $1,100.

  • Type of Repair: Minor fixes for a track, seal, or sash are more affordable than repairs for broken glass or window frames, which are typically the most expensive.

  • Window Details: The size, type, and material of the window affect the price.

  • Accessibility: Windows on upper floors or in hard-to-reach locations may increase labor costs.

  • Other Factors: The extent of the damage, local labor rates, and the need for emergency service will also impact the total cost.

For comparison, a full window replacement can range from $175 to $1,800 or more for high-end materials or large windows like bay or bow windows.

Many windows carry warranties from the manufacturer or installer that may cover the cost of repairs for a fixed amount of time. When installing or replacing windows, ask about any applicable warranties, what kinds of damage and repair they may cover, and what the procedure is for making a warranty claim.

Yes, professionals can enhance screen durability by using robust materials like stainless steel or fiberglass and employing advanced installation techniques. They provide reinforcement and repair services that extend the screens' lifespan while maintaining functionality and appearance.

No, it’s not safe to leave a doggy door open. It might be more convenient, especially at night when you just want to lay in bed. However, when you leave it open, it increases the chance of other critters getting in without your knowledge. Also, it leaves your pup unsupervised for hours at a time.
