"From the beginning to the end, everyone was professional and easy.  Since tenants live in the home that needed patching, there was a lot of coordination that needed to happen.  Fortunately, when Mr. Handyman of Anne Arundel actually LISTENED and responded in accordance with the parameters given (Days of week, times, communicate via email).  One, I commend them for actually READING my request and for responding to it specifically.  Two, the prices are reasonable and more especially since it was a small job.  We had two small holes in the ceiling which needed to be patched up and painted over to match the texture of the ceiling.  Three, they didn't try to swindle me!  The technician did a good job match everything, did the work efficiently and did not try to get more money out of the job like others have done.  I give this company 5 stars, even if I was not able to meet face to face with the technician.  Four, they were courteous even though it was a small job.  So many times, companies tend toward a obnoxious way of dealing with customers, especially if the job is small.  This company was not.  All in all, thanks for your service!  Such a simple thing, and yet working with you motivated me enough to write a review.

"Contractor did excellent work. Asked before any needed change was done. Over the several days it took to complete re-decking the surface and replacing the stairs , when finished for the day he removed all of the debris from each day so none was accumulated in the yard."

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

It is recommended that you check with your local building official on barn building requirements and rules, since size restrictions vary greatly from region to region based on what your property is zoned for. Some cities limit barn construction depending on if your property is residential or commercial. The three main factors your building commission will evaluate are:

  • Height and lot coverage: How tall your barn is and how much of your total property it occupies

  • Setback: Distance between barn and property line

  • Easement: Legal right for another owner to access another’s property

Whether you should choose a flat roof or a sloped roof depends on your particular situation. Flat roofs tend to be less expensive to install. However, sloped roofs have longer lifespans and stand up better to heavy snow and other inclement weather.

Keep in mind that even a flat roof needs to have a slight slope, usually around 1/2 inch for every foot. If it is completely flat, water will pool and cause damage, either from weight or leakage or rot.

You may need a local building permit and written permission from your homeowner’s association to install a shed, especially if you’re doing any substantial land clearing or installing electricity or plumbing. Permit requirements vary between municipalities, so research the local laws before starting your project. If you hire a contractor to build the shed, they can help determine which permits will be necessary.

The construction stage is almost always the longest part of building a house. Within this stage, framing often takes the most time, lasting anywhere from one week to a couple of months, depending on the home's size, the crew, and the time of year. Other parts of the construction phase include pouring the foundation and installing doors, windows, a roof, siding, drywall, and flooring. The planning and design phase can also be very time-consuming, sometimes taking months or even years, especially for a custom home. The final finishing process, which includes painting and installing trim, is typically shorter than the construction or planning stages.

There's no simple answer to which is less costly: wood or metal-framed homes. In most cases, metal building components cost more than wooden ones, while entire metal buildings cost less than wooden versions. However, regardless of the exterior framing or structure, each must meet similar building codes. This means that the costs are about the same, even considering that wood will require more maintenance than metal over time.
