He checked operation of the boiler, and diagnosed the problem with the help of the boiler manufacturer tech support. I needed a new ignition control module; the problem was that the boiler flame would not stay lit. He tried to get the old one working again, and seemed to succeed, but I called him back the next morning to report it started acting up again. He ordered the part and returned after it arrived in a few days to install it. The part appeared to resolve the issue and I was good to go. The boiler is over 25 years old and my previous HVAC contractor had said it needed to be replaced. Don looked at me like I was nuts when I told him that.
