"I would recommend MD Waterproofing to everyone I know. I can't praise them enough. They were so professional and sensitive to my every need. They had a supervisor who was so knowledgeable about this labor sensitive job, and the workers were courteous and hard working. When the job was completed in two days, everything was put back in place and the basement was cleaner than when they started! I am so pleased I used this company!"

"After the waterproofing was done I have been working to replace the paneled walls in my basement that they had to cut 4' up because of my leak areas. To early to tell about the leaking, but so far so good."

"In 2007, I had the entire basement retrofitted for drainage as I was having some seepage problems in certain areas. Another waterproofing company based in Glen Burnie worked on it, however, when it came to the basement bathroom they didn't replace approximately 11 feet of pipe near the vanity and toilet. Guess what, after 6 years, that area of the bathroom started getting flooded with water every time it rained. It got to a point where I could not tolerate the nuisance that we had to put up with and tried calling the original company but they were out of business and I was left with no option but to hire another company to do the 11' of pipeline. Ameri-Dry staff came over and discussed with me the different options and we agreed upon a price. Mike and his staff worked very well in the more efficient manner on the day of the repairs. They completed the work well and on-time. It has been over two months and we have not had the recurring problem with flooding of our basement bathroom anymore. Thanks for the good service and work you did!"

"Steve Norfolk (owner) returned my call quickly, came out to inspect my basement within 24 hours and gave me an estimate that was significantly less then another "national" provider.  He got me on his schedule promptly and his crew came out on time, performed the work, cleaned up after themselves and I have not had a water problem since that time.

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Roughing in and connecting utilities are the hardest parts of finishing a basement, and they’re the parts we typically don’t recommend doing as a DIY project. Unfortunately, your finishing timeline can be extended by weeks while you wait for contractors and inspectors to install electrical wiring, plumbing lines, and heating/cooling equipment and carry out inspections.

In most cases, it is safe to live in a home with minor foundation problems, but you should not let the issues persist. Virtually all foundations have small cracks from normal settlement, which are not a structural concern but should be sealed to prevent water intrusion. However, major damage—such as large structural cracks, sinking foundations, or bulging walls—can make a home unsafe. Other issues that can pose safety and health risks include poor indoor air quality from mold or pests, uneven floors, and rotten beams or joists. It is always best to have a foundation repair expert or structural engineer inspect any issues to determine if your home is safe to live in.

The primary downside to crawl space encapsulation is the high cost, which can be several thousand dollars. Additionally, the process can make future repairs more complicated by limiting access to plumbing and electrical wiring within the crawl space. Encapsulation also requires sealing off any vents, which can be a disadvantage for home designs that benefit from the airflow they provide. It's recommended to consult with a crawl space contractor to determine if the benefits outweigh these potential drawbacks for your specific home.

Water leakage through window openings is much more common in older homes, but it can also create issues with window frames that are improperly installed. If left unattended, water buildup can cause damage to surrounding fixtures, lead to harmful mold, and compromise the architectural integrity of your home. The potential damage that a water leak poses makes investing in weather- and water-proofing your window frames entirely worthwhile.

The most cost-effective foundation repair is using masonry patches and sealants to seal foundation cracks and offer some support to prevent further damage. These methods are used to fix minor foundation cracks quickly. However, they’re not suitable as a long-term solution, and they only offer minimal stability. On average, masonry patches and sealants cost $500, but a sealant like an epoxy crack injection can total over $2,000. If you’re handy and only looking for a temporary solution until you contact a local foundation repair contractor for a more permanent one, you can save hundreds by DIYing this repair.
