"The RaLo electrician did a great job running new wire to install my outdoor camlight. He also informed me of a number of other issues he noticed and gave me good price to address those issues as well. I definitely recommend their services."

"Juan arrived a bit later than expected but got to work and did the jobs, running to Home Depot for needed parts which I didn't know we needed. He explaned things to me and knew what he was doing. He did all the jobs I outlined and left with everything working. He was cooperative in pointing the kitchen track lights where I wanted the to shine. He then looked at the plumbing job (vanity install) and realized that the vanity I bought wasn't a feasible option because of the direction of my pipes (to the side and not the back) therefore needing to go right through the drawers! I have returned the vanity to Home Depot! He didn''t waste time talking to me but did talk to himself (or on his phone ) while he worked! He cleaned up his dust and debris well, Satisfied with his cost which really should have been higher when I thought about it later. I would use him again if he was from near Frederick, but he came from Baltimore! I'd rather use local tradesmen...."

"Call Chesapeake Energy Solutions after having the fire department at my house early in the morning for something over heating and causing smoke to fill my house. the fire department recommend that I replace both lights in my kitchen and considering the smoke detectors did go off that morning I replaced them as well. I talked to Ryan at 8 am to see if he could get someone out that morning. he told me he was pretty booked in the morning but someone would be there around 5 pm. Everything went perfect. Clinton the electrician arrived earlier than was expect, and performed the work in about 2 hours. Very nice guy who explained the difference between my old lights and the new ones that were installed. Clinton was very responsive to any questions I had about the products installed. Received a phone call from Ryan the owner today, seeing how everything went and if there was anything else that he could be a help with. Customer Service is something I'm big on and Chesapeake Energy Solution hit on all my bench marks. A 5 Star company. Thank you Chesapeake Energy Solutions. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!"

"Very good- problem solved but socket in fixture was not possible to be repaired- tech recommended new fixture telling me it was not cost effective to take it down and rewire- we followed his advice. Responsible company- did not charge for a follow up call. Realized it was part of the same problem."

"Dynamo has been Grade A. They did a great job, not too pricey and worked with my crazy schedule. (Thanks Kenny). You are my 'go to' electrical company to work with. I've had previous jobs done by them but forgot to write a review here (sorry). Each job has been preformed superbly. The guys only took about 15 minutes to replace the kitchen ceiling light. They were also very knowledgeable about concerns I had in general about electrical fires (a worry of mine) and they eased my mind plus gave me tips to avoid those events."

"Yaniel's Renovation LLC completed remodeling work, including putting in hardwood floors, installing cabinets, vanities, and doors, and interior painting. Francisco and his team worked to ensure that the home improvements were to my liking and that they were suitable down to the very last detail. They remodeled with an eye towards the future maintenance of my home. Rosa was immensely responsive. I am very pleased with the results."

"Replaced kitchen cabinets, installed new appliances and quartz countertops with tile backsplash, tore down and rebuilt attached family room, added island to kitchen, replaced flooring with hardwood and upgraded electrical in both rooms, new lighting in family room, refinished wood floors in all downstairs rooms, upgraded electrical service to 200A, ran new circuit to garage. Work began immediately after Thanksgiving and most work completed and appliances installed Dec 23rd just in time for holidays. Work was done quickly, efficiently and professionally, trash constantly removed, foreman was always available and immediately responsive during this time. We were required to purchase new appliances ourselves which they installed, which we preferred. 1/3 payment required upfront, 1/3 when work started and the remainder when work was substantially completed and rooms livable (their definition). The contract allowed 10% of that final payment to be held back until all work listed and priced in the contract was completed. Although that seemed to be a lot to pay before work was completed, I correctly believed they could be trusted to complete the work quickly and properly. When mistakes were made which occasionally happened (e.g. a light wouldn't turn off and the range hood wouldn't vent), they returned immediately to correct the problem. All the contractors and subcontractors were professional, polite and helpful."

Chandelier Installation questions, answered by experts

Wet-rated, recessed-style shower lighting is most often recommended by electrical experts for use in a shower. This is because recessed lights are designed with a sealed flush-to-ceiling mount with the light housing and electrical junction box situated in a hole in the ceiling, away from splashing water. The packaging for any light should detail whether it’s suitable for a shower.

There aren't any hard and fast rules about how far recessed lights should be from the wall. It depends on your needs for the lighting. For instance, if you want to highlight a specific piece of art on the wall, you'll want to install lighting close to it. But if you want to illuminate an entire room, you might want your lighting farther from the wall.

A general guideline of one-and-a-half to three feet from the wall is a good place to start, but in the end, you want to make sure the lighting meets your unique needs.

Wiring or installing a light the wrong way can lead to potentially dangerous scenarios, including shock and even electrical fires. If you’re the least bit uncertain whether you’ve wired something correctly, the best and safest approach is to call in a professional electrician to handle the installation for you.

A wafer light lasts about 30,000 to 50,000 hours, depending on the quality and usage. Doing the math translates to approximately 10 to 20 years of regular use. LED wafer lights are known for their energy efficiency and longevity, significantly outlasting traditional incandescent or fluorescent bulbs.

Factors such as usage patterns, operating environment, and stability and consistency of the electrical supply influence their life span. Regular use in a residential setting ensures these lights provide long-term, reliable illumination with minimal maintenance.

If you’re planning to use an LED in an enclosed fixture like a lantern, check that the bulb is rated for enclosed spaces. LEDs are sensitive to heat, and overheating can lower their lifespan. While you can still use some LEDs safely in enclosed areas, it must be the right LED.
