"Atlantic Lighting and Irrigation installed both an irrigation system and accent lighting on two trees. From Ian Chaput, the estimator, to the crew, everyone has been professional and timely. Damage was done to my system by an outside party excavating the lot next to me. Atlantic returned and made the necessary repairs. I have already recommended Atlantic Lighting and Irrigation and will continue to do so."

"Mark from Duke's Electrical Services was recommended by a friend in the home improvement business whose referrals have always been A+, and Mark certainly lived up to that reputation. Mark and his son were professional, punctual, and communicative. They texted before arriving and showed up exactly on time. Mark performed a thorough electrical inspection, took photos, and reviewed everything with me so I understood the condition of our system. I also asked about a few smaller projects, including a dock light switch and a deck remote-control switch that weren't working. Mark followed through on his promise to return, contacted me within a week, and scheduled the repairs. During that visit, I added two more switch replacements, and they completed all three jobs in under an hour. What impressed me most was their attention to detail. After finishing, they vacuumed the work area. As someone who appreciates cleanliness, that meant a lot. Professional, efficient, cleanliness, very rare find."

"We had our entire bathroom entirely demolished all the way down to the support beams and fully rebuilt (the house is old and needed a lot of repairs). The entire team was absolutely amazing from designing and planning (Junior), to the project getting done (Kadir was our PM, Tony and Paul were our electricians, and all the other guys who came in to do the tilework and plumbing - I am sorry I do not know their names but they were also awesome). This bathroom required an enormous amount of work and it came out absolutely beautiful. The whole team takes a lot of pride in their work and they truly desire that their customers are happy and expectations are exceeded with their work. I am already planning more projects with them, their work is not limited to bathroom and kitchen remodels, and I look forward to working with them again. The quality of their work is guaranteed and their prices are super reasonable (big plus)."

"Instead of just lighting the driveway he designed the lighting plan, picking particular trees to light to illuminate an aesthetic path up to the house.  The result is wonderful!  The lights on the walkway to the and deck are carefully positioned and the entire effect is wonderful.  I plan to have him back to do lights in the backyard as well.

"I had purchased a 2-hour Big Deal from Miller & Groom back in June 2013, and it had gone well. So, when I needed some additional electrical work done, I called them again. This time, I had an exterior outlet that wasn?t working at a rental property. To make the visit worthwhile, I also wanted to address a longstanding issue of a lack of a switch to control the laundry room light, both in this rental property and in a second nearby rental property. In both laundry rooms, you had to walk into a dark room and then feel around for the pull cord hanging down from the bulb in the ceiling. I called at the end of October to make the appointment for 11 Nov 2013 at 0800. Miller & Groom showed up on time and installed the laundry room switches and wiring without incident. They also determined that the non-working exterior outlet was on the same circuit as two bathrooms with GFCI outlets. Resetting the bathroom outlets got the exterior outlet working again. The electrician also told me that the exterior light near the outlet looked pretty rusty and should probably be replaced. I paid $85.35 and $83.17 for the work at the two properties. Later that evening, the tenant with the outlet problem called me to say that when he had plugged in a floor lamp in a bedroom, sparks flew and the lamp got fried. So the next morning, on 12 Nov, I called Miller and Groom before 0800 to describe the problem and set up an appointment for them to check it out. The electrician said that he could come 13 Nov in the afternoon, but he would have to call me back with a firmer time. He left a message on my machine at 1430 for a 1600 appointment on 13 Nov. On 13 Nov I went to the rental to wait for the 1600 appointment. Fifteen minutes after the scheduled appointment, I used my emergency car cellphone to call my home answering machine and heard a recent message from the electrician, saying that they would have to reschedule. The message explained that someone on their team had been exposed to fluoride on a commercial job, and required testing and lots of paperwork. The electrician proposed rescheduling for 14 Nov from 0700-0800. I returned the call and left a message saying that that new time was ok with me. On 14 Nov at 0700, the electrician showed up and replaced the bedroom outlet. He said that he suspected that the tenant?s floor lamp may have been the cause of the problem. I was concerned that sparks flying was a safety and liability risk for me, and asked if there was something I could do to reduce the risk. The electrician recommended installing an arc-fault circuit breaker. He said that the codes in force when the house was built (in the 1980?s) didn?t require these, but house built today would have them. He estimated it would cost about $750 to upgrade. I asked if he could install on a Saturday; he said that the soonest would be 23 Nov, and that he would email me a proposal. I received the proposal the next morning at 0755 with an offer to do the work on 23 Nov. I asked if they could also install a new exterior light, which I would provide, as they had recommended. They agreed to do that at no extra cost. I printed, signed, scanned, and emailed back the proposal. On Saturday, 23 Nov, the electrician showed up at 0900. He upgraded the panel with an arc-fault circuit breaker and installed the exterior light. It?s been several months, and the tenant hasn?t complained about any more electrical problems since then.

Lighting questions, answered by experts

Outdoor lighting repairs typically take between 1-3 hours. The exact duration can vary depending on factors such as the complexity of the problem, the extent of the damage, and the ease of access to the lighting fixtures and wiring.

Outdoor lighting enhances security, improves curb appeal, and extends the usability of outdoor spaces.

Simple repairs like replacing bulbs can be DIY projects, but professionals should handle significant electrical repairs to ensure safety and compliance with electrical standards.

If you’ve gone through the troubleshooting checklist for your motion detector flood light and it’s still not working, it’s time to consider a new one. Older models that need frequent fixes can be unreliable. Newer flood lights feature advanced technology that improves your lights’ sensitivity and overall performance. If you’re fed up with unexpected darkness, investing in a new light can give you the lighting you need to feel secure.

The lifespan of a pool light depends on the type, but thankfully, these lights are designed to last a long time before they need to be replaced. LED bulbs last the longest, about 20,000 to 30,000 hours, while incandescent bulbs last the shortest amount of time, about 1,000 to 5,000 hours. Fiber optic pool lights will last around 6,000 hours.
