PestNow brand was founded in Virginia in 1995 as Superior Pest Management when four high school friends came together to form their own company. Today, we have multiple locations in three states, and serve thousands of happy customers. We offer pest control; termite treatments and warranties; mosquito, flea & tick control; WDIs (real estate inspections); lawn fertilization & weed control; TAP insulation; and wildlife solutions for homeowners and businesses in the mid-Atlantic.

"PestNow was hired to inspect our house for termites. This was required by the lender of the family buying our house. PestNow found a pile of wood leaning up against a deck column they said needed repair due to termite damage. PestNow also required the entire house be treated. There were no termites found anywhere other than the pile of wood, according to PestNow. They quoted us for over $800 to treat the house. We questioned the need and amount so they lowered it to $580. As a result of PestNow stating they found termites in the deck column, the lender of the buyers required the deck column be repaired due to termite damage. The deck repair company assessed the deck column agreeing it needed to be repaired, but not due to termites, rather moisture. I question whether PestNow found termites at all. Their unethical tactics cost us well over $1,000. Beware of PestNow."

Like any other animal, rats are attracted to food sources, water, and shelter. Clean up food messes right away, don’t leave pet food out, and secure your garbage to make your home less appealing. Fix leaky pipes and dripping faucets, and declutter spaces that rats might think to nest in.

Naturally occurring EPA-registered Bti products are an effective way to kill off mosquitoes at the larval stage. And, although they won’t wipe them out, there are lots of natural repellents that make your yard less attractive to mosquitoes. Gel bait and gel bait traps use poison to kill cockroaches, and aren’t safe to use around pets. Many gel bait traps are called “child-resistant,” but this only means that the traps are hard to rip open for children. Large pets and children are still able to swallow them. If you use gel bait, use it in areas where pets and children can’t access them, such as under a washing machine. Another option is to use glue traps, which don’t contain pesticides and are safe to use around pets. 

The cockroach most easily confused with water bugs is the Oriental cockroach, for several reasons. Their shape is most similar to a water bug, and they’re notorious for seeking out and living near water. If you capture one of these bugs close to a water supply, you can quickly tell if it’s an Oriental roach or a water bug. These roaches are a darker color, and they cannot fly, while water bugs are a lighter brown and can fly to escape.

Spider mites don’t have too much in common with actual spiders, but these insects can absolutely destroy a lawn. Spider mites feed on grass roots and blades and are extremely effective at draining nutrients from plants, which can quickly kill grass. These mites are ravenous, so talk to a pest control pro at the first sign of spider mites in your lawn.
