"Gaby helped us remodel our kitchen. We wanted to keep our existing custom cabinets but modernize the appearance. Gaby transformed the look from a country style kitchen to a more modern, crisp design by: -extending the cabinets about 10” to the ceiling, and adding molding and trim work -replacing faux legs in our island and cooking area with clean edges -building custom decorative panels for the island and columns -removing a cabinet to make room for a beverage center -countless repairs and fixes Gaby also coordinated painting - both the cabinets and the ceiling/walls, and painted over 50 cabinet doors/drawers himself. The painting turned out absolutely beautiful and professional - as if the cabinets were white from the beginning. He also coordinated many of the other jobs, including recommending an electrician for us who was also very reliable and professional. In many ways, he acted like a GC for us in addition to a carpenter. Can’t say enough about Gaby. He is an outstanding, meticulous carpenter. He knows his stuff in and out. He is reliable, prompt, efficient, reasonable, and goes above and beyond to deliver amazing results. Would absolutely recommend him to anyone and already planning other carpentry projects with him in mind. A+, 10/10, fabulous to work with. Thank you Gaby!"

"Moises Carpentry came and evaluated the porch. He gave me a quote, but added that because they can't see the underside of the stairs there may be an additional cost if there is rot damage. MC kept me informed during the whole process. There was additional damage which I did anticipate, so the price did go up. They were prompt and did a nice job repairing and painting the porch."

"Everything working with Rafael and his team was easy. From the prompt responses and quote to the actual work there were no issues. The house needed a lot of trim and carpentry work and his team did a great job on that as well. The end result was excellent and the house looks brand new."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Rudy and his team from RUDY’S CARPENTRY AND PAINTING were great to work with, he did a thorough walk through to ensure he knew exactly what repairs we needed done, and then was quick to send over an accurate estimate. The work was timely, on budget, with no issues. I appreciated their flexibility and crews' ability in carpentry work. They removed the old rotten wooden posts on our deck and replaced them with new ones from pressure treated wood. I would highly recommend using RUDY’S CARPENTRY AND PAINTING for all kinds of jobs inside and outside of house as this is a very professional and hard working team."

"They did other work besides brick work! Installed a basement window, a retractable screen door, outside railing. Extremely satisfied with work done! Pricing was good! Time frame was less than expected! They cleaned up, left no trash! I would highly recommend them! Workers were very polite!' Osvaldo stayed on top of everything! I can't say enough! I would definitely use them again."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

New builds, remodels, and additions often necessitate professional framing expertise.

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

Joists do distribute their load to beams, but they don’t sit on top of the beams. Instead, home builders nail or screw the joists directly to the beams such that the end of the joist butts up against the edge of the beam. Beams can sit on other beams for support, but you’ll never see a joist sitting on top of a beam or another joist.

Installing an ornamental or decorative porch column takes around three to five hours. Structural columns take longer because your pro has to install a jack to hold up the roof while switching the column out. If there's any structural damage, it can add several days to the timeline to repair the damage.

Framing most homes takes anywhere between five and eight weeks to complete. You’ll need to account for inclement weather conditions, material shipment times, the number of crew members, and the weight of your materials. If the weather is too hot, wet, or cold for the installation, this process could take closer to eight weeks.
