"I couldn't have been more pleased with New Style Remodeling! They were unbelievably quick - I reached out on Sunday, they came out and gave me a quote on Monday, and they completed the project on Tuesday. They were punctual, professional, and the work that they did was amazing. The backsplash they installed is so well done. I highly, highly recommend these guys."

Customers say: True professional

"I hired Jeff to take out my old, leaky, fiber glass shower and install a new tile and glass enclosure. Jeff was very responsive, reliable and always available for questions. He coordinated the contractors including plumbers, tilers and glass installers and kept the work moving forward. The work was professional and very well executed. His pricing was very fair with no surprises. I absolutely love my new shower."

Customers say: Quick response

"I’m very happy with my new tile floor installed by Renato and his crew at Pride Home Remodeling. They installed porcelain tiles on 300 sf of kitchen and hallway. They took great care moving appliances and demolishing the old floor. The debris was contained well and the area was always left as neat as possible at the end of each day. The installation was meticulous. The tiles and grout lines are even and the floor feels very stable (unlike my previous install which had to be replaced) . Communication with Renato was very easy and he kept me informed along the way. When the job was finished everything was put back and care was taken that all appliances were reconnected properly and in working order. I’m so happy with this floor and the work that was done."

"Flavors did and outstanding job fixed our badly botched tile work in our bathroom. He is very detailed oriented and you would even know he was there when the job is complete. He is very neat and cleans throughout the project. If anyone would like to be completely satisfied hire Flavius Tile. You won't be sorry.."

Customers say: Quality work

"I hired Alexis Home Remodeling to replace a collapsed bay window with a simpler grid window, rebuild the surrounding wall, and replace a storm door. Edian also replaced the area's small ceiling at the last minute, which was not part of the original contract, and then put a first coat of primer on it for me as a courtesy, even though painting is usually not one of his services. Edian was very accommodating to me throughout, including taking care of my request for a change in the type of replacement window to be installed. He and his crew spent two days on the reconstruction and new window installation, and did a beautiful, professional job. It is a pleasure to see the results. The next time I need a contractor, I will call on them again."

"Pablo called me first and the the rest is history. He visited my home with the professional camera which takes measurements and brought the countertop samples and made recommendations. He recommended a showroom that stocks the type of materials we are interested in. During the installation he helped to remove the faucet and sink and installed them for free. He also removed the old granite countertop for us. Everything went well. I strongly recommend Soares Stone for your countertop project."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s possible to cut tile without a wet saw; instead, you can use an angle grinder, a glass cutter, a snap cutter, tile nippers, or a rotary tool with a tile-cutting blade. A manual tile cutter or snap cutter works well for the larger tiles that wet saws are typically used for, while smaller projects might just require nippers or a glass cutting wheel. If you’re working with large quantities of tile, however, power tools are best.

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

Your floors should be completely level for tile, otherwise you risk damaging the tiles in the future. When there are even small gaps or hills in the subfloor beneath the tile, this puts more pressure on the tile when you walk around on the floor. With repeated traffic, the tiles are at risk of cracking, and you’ll have to deal with tile repairs sooner than if the floor was completely level.

Yes, you can use paint if you want to refresh your tile countertops. However, you must be mindful of the type of paint you use. Look for options explicitly created for tile that are also waterproof and durable. Over time, the paint will chip, so this is not considered a long-term solution for busy kitchens.

The tile trim you use will depend on a few factors, including design preferences, budget, and whether the project is DIY or not. You might choose plastic trim if you want an easier DIY job that is more budget-friendly. There are also more color options available in plastic. On the other hand, you might choose metal to match your fixtures or for areas with heavy use.
