"They called back the next day and I one day after that, I had an employee inspect the gutters we had the following day. Before he left, we had an estimate in writing that was very reasonable for the amount of work to be done. Work was scheduled for about 4 days later, and they finished in one day. They replaced some gutters, repaired some, put covers on all, and added new ones where we never had them before. They repaired rotted wood behind the gutters and then painted with our paint that they had requested when the estimate was given. Good company, professional, courteous, polite and efficient."

"Came out to do an estimate, and didn't provide it to me for many days or contact me, despite multiple phone calls I made and messages left. While I understand they were swamped with demand due to a snowstorm, I was led to believe they would be more responsive - and the responsibility lands with them to set expectations with me on turnaround time. In the end, they did repair our gutters in about 10 minutes, and I can't complain - it was fast, albeit very expensive. If I can find an alternative, I wouldn't hire them again."

"Their company was the best. We told him what we needed and they showed up within two weeks. We couldn’t believe how cheap it was to do the work. I actually got a price from leaf guide for $1500 an American Gutter did the whole job For only $95. I would highly recommend them and will absolutely call upon them for any further needs we have."

"I have noticed that water leaks into the basement behind vinyl siding (next to chimney) during heavy rains. I once hired a general contractor, but could not pin-point the issue.
This time, I submitted service request to 3 providers via Angie's List. Rocco (from RJ Scalzi & Sons) replied to me the same day, and quickly scheduled a free estimate within a few days. Rocco is willingly to work around my schedule and showed up on time for free estimate AND found out the issue!!
We rescheduled the work twice due to his busy schedule. This is OK since I was informed the schedule change in advance (good communication!!). He & his brother showed on time again for the work and finished the repair within an hour! in addition to replacing the soaked board behind the vinyl siding, he also added aluminum sheets on both side the board. This is a work beyond!! Two days after the work, we had a short storm. I found no water leak. I'll give it more time to see the result and might update this review later.
I appreciated his easy going, good communication, and excellent work. I'm not sure about the price since there is no comparison, but I think it is reasonable.
By the way, out of 3 providers, one replied the same day saying they don't provide such service. the 2nd replied the next day and scheduled a free estimate but didn't show.

"I just got my gutters done and they did pan excellent job. It was a slow season so they got the job done rather swiftly with more person power. My gutters look amazing a d they come with a warranty. They also made sure to do the best possible system to keep water away from my home and garage. Thank you!"

"Luis and his gutter replacement crew did a fantastic professional job replacing old, rotted wooden gutters and replacing them with aluminium gutters. The replacement gutters were the same black color as the gutters they replaced, meaning that there was no loss of aesthetic visual appeal resulting from this work. The crew put in two (2) ten (10) hour days as they encountered a good deal of unexpected rot in the roofing frame behind the fascia boards.. This rot, of course, had to be replaced with new wood. Luis and I negotiated a reasonable additional cost to handle the extra time needed to accomplish this replacement that could not have been foreseen during the initial assessment on which the job estimate was based. On Day 2 Of the job, Luis supervised a clean-up of the entire area, removing all nails and scraps of metal. He even took away the old rotted wooden gutters, thereby saving me a trip to the dump to dispose of this material. I highly recommend the excellent work of Luis an"

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

Absolutely—and lots of it. Overflowing water from your gutters can damage your siding and your roof. All of the moisture getting into the cracks and crevices of your home can lead to mold or mildew problems down the line. In addition, when water pools around your home, it needs a place to go—and sometimes it ends up inside the house, creating a very unwanted flood.

If you don't want to install gutter guards, the most common and inexpensive alternative is regular gutter cleaning, either annually, biannually, or as soon as they start to fill up. Using a leaf blower attachment can make this process easier. Other products designed to reduce cleanings include gutter screens (made of wire mesh, nylon, or foam), which are typically less expensive than a full gutter guard installation. You can also find guards and inserts designed specifically to protect your downspouts or opt for a whole gutter system like LeafGuard, which integrates the gutter and guard into a single product.

When it comes to which gutter material is better, the choice really boils down to what you're looking for in a gutter system. If saving money is the most important factor, then your best option is to go for aluminum gutters. If longevity and durability are more important to you, then copper gutters could be the best fit. If you want to customize the color of your gutters, aluminum takes the cake, but if you're looking for a more natural appearance, copper might be a better choice.

Unless you've chosen to install underground downspouts, your gutter downspouts shouldn't touch the ground. If they come into contact with the soil or pavement next to your home, rainwater can back up into them during a storm, preventing them from doing their job effectively. Instead, aim to have your downspouts end about 12 inches from the ground.

Buried downspouts can freeze during cold weather as cold water runs through them. If you’ve discovered your downspouts are frozen, you can carefully pour hot water down the top of the downspout to defrost them. If that doesn’t work, you may need to dig your downspout back up. Avoid trying to break the ice from the exterior using a hammer as this can cause cracks and damage to your downspout.

To avoid freezing the future, consider adding a heating cable to the exterior, which can adjust heat based on the surrounding temperature.
