Small jobs welcome

"I am so pleased that HomeAdvisor sent PG'z Junk Removal as an option when I asked about getting a dumpster. This was actually easier and about the same price. The owner was really easy to work with, schedule, and even when I needed to add more debris, he was kind as I needed to have him adjust the estimate/bid. He was professional, as was his partner. And he was really nice to talk to. They both worked really hard and got a large pile of lumber and bags of construction debris cleared away in short order. I would hire them again any time and recommend them without reservation!"

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

A land survey defines and records the physical aspects of a property, including its boundaries, dimensions, easements, features, and sometimes topographical information. In contrast, a land appraisal determines the property's monetary value. While an appraiser will often consult a land survey to understand the property's physical specifications, the survey itself does not determine the land's value.

When planning for land survey costs, you should consider the following elements as major contributors to the overall cost:

  • Size of your property in terms of acres or square feet

  • Complexity of the terrain in terms of hills, elevation changes, rocks, water, and other features

  • Type of survey you need (boundary survey, topographic survey, or a combination of survey types)

  • Distance traveled for the professional surveyor

If a buyer pays for a survey, the surveyor they hired will only provide results to them. It’s up to the buyer whether they share the survey results with the seller or not, even if they ultimately walk away from the deal. It’s considered good faith to share the results with the seller, though, especially if you back out of the deal, as the seller can then provide that survey to future interested parties.

If you’re planning to dig on your property, you’ll need to check for underground utility lines. Call the national call-before-you-dig 811 number. Once connected to an operator, you can schedule a site visit to mark underground lines. This way, you won’t accidentally dig into pipes and can cause major (read: costly) issues.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.
